Aldo's Italian Restaurant

The location and ambiance is great but the food was lacking the true Italian flavor with lots of spices and herbs. Gabbi's was busy so I gave this restaurant a try. Not bad, but the food needed a little more flavor. Being Italian myself, I'm very picky when it comes to Italian food but I will go back to give it another try. Went to Aldo's at 7:30 on Saturday night to grab a drink and wait for a table at a Gabbi's Mexican Kitchen to become available. After an hour long wait and still no table ready at Gabbi's, we decided to give Aldo's a try. Drinks at the bar were strong and well poured, although a bit on the high end price wise. The restaurant was not very full and had around 6 tables going. We were seated right away and the waiter was there very quickly to give the specials and take additional drink orders. I agree with the other post that the rolls did seem a bit stale and dry. I did notice that the wait staff could use some training as far as staying on top of things now and then, but overall the service was good. The food arrived promptly and my Chicken Marsala tasted great. Everything except the rolls seemed very fresh and I would order it again. Overall atmosphere of the place is very nice and it's a great place to take a date. The owner came out and greeted us, made sure everything was all right. I will be going back to Aldo's and also wanted to say Gabbi's is great too, just gets crowded at times. I did want to comment on the throw down of the Race Card by the previous poster. I think it is ridiculous that people like him cry racism whenever they get bad service and he needs to get over his victim mentality. Nobody is conspiring against you in an effort to keep you from eating their pasta. It was just a case of the staff not doing their jobs and not paying attention to their tables. We were seated and were waiting for 30 mins to be helped, I would understand if the place was vusy but there were only two other parties in the Restaurant. I asked the bus person if some one was going to assist us he approached the waitress and is was clear she was bothered for some reason. When he came back he was stumbling with his words as all this was happening the waitress was assisting a couple that had just walked in after us. We walked out. I've been to a lot of Italilan places (haven't we all?) and this is definately towards the top of my list. I was immediately drawn in just walking past the restaurant. The decor is outstanding, warm, and inviting. I suppose that says something, because there are a lot of nice places in the Orange Circle area. I'm a big fan of Chicken Parmigana, and this place knows how to do it right. The chicken was very tender and comes with a TON of pasta...so much that I could only finish half (my college friends would be disappointed to hear that). The owners are really nice and stopped by my table for a quick chat...you get a very welcomed feel as the owners wife says "Chow!" on your way out. I'm definately looking forward to my next visit. I loved the look of this place from outside, it has that classy look with the linen tablecloths and napkins. The food was great and the ambiance was fair and I would make the following suggestions. The bread was dry, no butter served with it. Calimari a bit too greasy tasting. Citrus City has a great calimari that would not hurt to adapt the recipe! The roses in the vase at the hostesses station were wilted. Business was slow and hopefully will pick up some. More training needed to create a classier environment by hostess and busboys. I love this restaurant. I have tried nearly everything on the menu, and have loved nearly everything. Everytime I go I try something different because I've never really been disappointed. The service can be a bit slow, but it is always VERY friendly. They moved into the orange circle now, so there will be even more tables to handle their increased traffic.
