Alchemy offers such a creative, interesting selection of savory and sweet items that you could imagine them with a storefront in the Pearl. What I enjoy about each visit to Alchemy is getting turned on to something I have never eaten before, which also makes each visit hard because I am torn between my regular favorites and being adventurous. They create new savory dishes and sweet goodies (along with staples and coffee/espresso drinks) about every week, so check the board. My savory favorites are the sausage and biscuits gravy, the feta w/spinach, shallots and garlic and the potato dill soup. I love their peanut butter ?sin? bars (smooth, like butta), but I also have a weakness for their fruity and seasonal offerings: raspberry flirt, strawberry clam and raspberry marsala trifle. Like I said, it is exciting discovering their latest creations...as it is my self imposed duty to test the products. It is no surprise to find that the ladies behind the counter are actual pastry chefs! It?s also impressive to hear they are super picky about using the best, fresh ingredients, often organic and local with no hydrogenated yucky stuff. For coffee buffs, you can taste the quality in their beans, too. They don?t mess around there, either.
