Alcatraz was the best place my friend and i ate at are whole trip. We are both from San Jose so being there made us feel at home. They have the best onion rings i have ever tasted...

Great Beer, average dishes 3/5/2009

Beer is a little pricy ... but everday there is a diff beer special for $3.95 a pint!!! we had the wise guy ..... it was great with oranges, reminded me of a lighter blue moon. Pros: great beer. Cons: kinda pricy, not too health friendly more

They were already out of certain menu items at 11:30am for lunch, something as simple as bread. After waiting over 30 minutes for my waitress to check on our needs I finally had to walk to the bar from my table just to get a water refill. They were not at all busy so the poor service was unexplainable. 5 days later I see the charges from my debit card used has been overcharged. The GM insisted I left a 23% tip on a bill with poor service and unavailable food choices. I luckily kept a copy of my receipt. It is obvious they do not care to have repeat business. The only good thing is thanks to the chef, the food is good when they actually have what you are trying to order. Cons: Service, availability more

The food is awful. Considering the money each dinner entre cost the level of quality is below average. The chicken is dry and over cooked. I had the jambalaya, and it was the worst jambalaya in the world. The cajun sauces was basically tomatoe sauce, the saugages were hotdogs and the shrimps were old and they didn't even devine them. This is a very cheap place with low quality. more

OK, look, I can go to the DIVE bar, down the street, and pay $2 for a can of budweiser... OR, I can go to ALCATRAZ, and get a LITER of FRESH MADE BEER for $6. You do the math. Alcatraz simply is the best place in the world. You can also get a GIGANTIC plate of nachos -- enough for 6 people -- for only $8. However, you shouldn't go -- you're just not cool enough. more
