The granite counters at ALB granite are much cheaper than at other local competitors, but you get what you pay for. Overall, our counters are passable, and better than our former laminate. But are they worth almost $2000? No. ALB granite is not expert at what they do, they are unprofessional and their work is simply not that great. There have been several problems:
1. They only templated for 1 of our 3 countertops, and took measurements for the other 2. All 3 counters consequently have different length overhangs than each other, and the one over our island and dishwasher is off center, with too much counter hanging over the back.
2. In the showroom on 2 separate occasions we were shown ""demi bullnose"" edges, once by Leo and once by Bob. We chose to get that edge, after looking over the different available profiles on ALB granite's website. When the counters were installed, we could clearly see the edges weren't demi bullnose. When we called to discuss that, we were told we got half bullnose, that we were shown half bullnose in the showroom, that they don't have demi bullnose, and that demi bullnose and half bullnose are the same thing. When we pointed out that on their website they are most definitely not the same thing, the person we spoke to didn't even know what was on their website for their own business!
3. When we asked how to clean the counters, we were told (two different times) to use soap and water. Lots of research online taught us we must never use soap and water, and that we should find out from the fabricator what they recommend for our particular granite.
4. Of course there are some pits and tiny holes in granite counters - it's a natural product. But there are far more than we were led to believe we would have, and they are quite noticeable. We've had to ask 3 times what to do to minimize their appearance.
5. We've called 3 times since getting our counters installed to talk about these issues and get our questions answered and never reached Leo. We talked to Bob twice and some woman there once. Both of them said we needed to talk to Leo to get answers to our questions, and they took messages from us, and Leo never called back. No surprise - he got our money already.
Bottom line: buyer beware! If a price seems to good to be true, it probably is!
