Best pet care 2/25/2010

The employees at this clinic truly care about the animals and their families. I had to put my beloved dog to sleep recently, and the staff was so caring and kind. I found this clinic through the recommendation of a friend, and I recommend this clinic to my friends. I live in Helotes, but I drive down to Castroville to this clinic; it's worth the drive (even if your cat, like mine, howls the entire time in the car). If you're looking for a clinic that really shows caring to the animals you love, this is the best place I've found in the San Antonio area. Pros: caring and kindness toward the animals and their families Cons: in Castroville more

Dr. Baker and the Alamo Area Vet Staff 2/11/2009

I took my beloved Beagle, Hunter, into see Dr. Baker. He was very ill at the time. We tried many things but it was too late and Hunter was ready to go see Jesus. We took him in last Wednesday and she and her assistant put Hunter to rest. Today I received a sympathy card from the whole staff. That was very wonderful. (The receptionist always greeted me by name when I came in the building.)\r \r And as for the people who rated them bad and say they're only in it for the money, get a life. You can't get anything for free. They're running a business and losers like you who don't pay their bills just won't get any services.\r Pros: Friendly staff Cons: My dog died more

Great Service 9/11/2008

I have 3 dogs and 2 cats which are seen at this establishment and I have nothing but great things to say about them. Very courteous and take special care with my animals needs. I drive from San Antonio to Castroville just because of the treatment I get. Highly recommended! more

Agreed, that they're after money instead of your animal's well-being 11/15/2007

My horse just recently got something in his eye, and I was looking for a nearby vet that would be able to flush it, stain it, and see if there might be any scratches to his cornea. I called, and they said that I could bring him in, but they would not come out for a farm call ""over something as unimportant as an eye injury."" No one was available to help me haul him, but especially after that comment on my horse's health being ""unimportant"" to them, I will *never* do business with them. They need to take responsibility and show concern and compassion for each patient. I called them becase they were the closest location to my horse, but I'd gladly pay a more hefty farm call to avoid doing business with them. Cons: You're up a creek if you don't have a trailer! more

No concern for the animals until they have they have your money... 8/8/2007

I recently took my cat to the Alamo Area Veterinary Clinic because I found her with a puss-filled paw. This cat is my 'baby'. They told me I had an outstanding balance from 1993 (14 years ago and I was right out high school and not nearly as responsible as I am now) and wanted a deposit of $150 before they would treat the cat. Today is Wednesday and I was to get paid the next day and was more than willing to take care of the outstanding balance and the current expenses on payday. Heck, the cat was going to have to stay overnight anyway. They refused to keep the cat there til the next day when I could pay the expenses. They obviously do not care about the animals... only the money. I would not recommend using thier services for any reason. They have shown me exactly how much they truely care about the animals.. which is obviously not at all. I would suggest using Castroville Veterinary Clinic instead.I recently took my cat to the Alamo Area Veterinary Clinic because I found her with a puss-filled paw. This cat is my 'baby'.
