At the Alabama Breast Center, our fellowship trained breast surgeons have dedicated their practice to the treatment of all diseases of the breast, both benign and malignant. We offer prompt, comprehensive, compassionate, state-of-the-art care, individualized to your specific needs.
Breast problems evoke a high level of anxiety because of the fear that it might represent a breast cancer. We realize that anxiety is greatest during that period of time between the discovery of a problem and when a definitive diagnosis is made. Our goal is to diagnose problems as promptly as possible. Even if the diagnosis is breast cancer, anxiety generally begins to decline once the diagnosis is made and the coping process begins. We are often able to perform a needle biopsy on the initial office visit, obtaining a diagnosis within 24 – 48 hours. When the diagnosis is breast cancer, we collaborate closely with physicians in medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, breast imaging, and plastic/reconstructive surgery in order to help you decide the best course of action for you. We believe this comprehensive, multidisciplinary, team approach improves patient care and outcomes.
Not all breast problems are cancer, and we are frequently able to promptly assure a woman that the lump she feels or the abnormality seen on a mammogram is completely benign. In that situation we offer treatment of benign breast conditions such as fibrocystic change, fibroadenoma, nipple discharge, breast pain, and gynecomastia.
