I went through Movers-dot-com and got a referral to AirRide Moving -- biggest mistake I've ever made with any move I've ever had. Where do I start? They were all professional and prompt to reply when I was evaluating their service before I signed on with them -- and now when I have complaints that deserve to be addressed, I can't reach anyone. I call, I send e-mails, I've even reported them to the business consumer authorities that Citysearch won't let me name (the bee-bee-bee). No response or reply. Lame. First of all, the estimate was WAAAY off. I went over my inventory with the sales person over the phone and she continually assured me that the estimate was exceedingly generous and would likely not be over the quote. Yes, we had more boxes than originally estimated -- but that shouldn't have added $2,000 to our $3,000 estimate for a total bill of $5,000 -- a full $1,000 higher than the highest quote we got from any other company. Next, all the charges that the salesperson agreed to waive for us, re: stairs, etc? The move foreman seemed to know nothing about it, and proceeded to add more and more charges to our bill, all contradictory to the original quote. Two professional movers came -- but they also hired on 4 day laborers (from god knows where -- maybe the home depot or U-haul parking lot) who essentially did most of the work. This was NOT a good thing -- they used a dolly from my apartment, overloaded it, and broke beyond repair. They stacked boxes overly high, such that I witnessed them falling several times, resulting in boxes that would split open and spill the contents. I saw them hastily try to repack the items with very little care -- god knows how many more times that happened since I wasn't able to supervise every stage of the move. I dread opening my boxes when my goods are finally delivered. All in all, the absolute WORST movers I've ever worked with. NEVER EVER, EVER use them.
