Late last year (9/24/10), I called these guys to fix a heat pump that had quit. The technician said he found and replaced a bad capacitor, but that didn't fix it. He then said he checked the windings on the compressor and that they were bad.\r

So - according to him - I now had to replace the compressor. At the kingly sum of $2000 (my neighbor has a similar unit and had hers replaced for $1000). Oh, but it gets better.\r

Now this gentleman explained that, actually, the inside units only work with a matching outside unit, so when I replaced the compressor unit outside, I had to replace the entire unit INSIDE as well. Considering whether to send his sons to Harvard or Yale, this gentleman now asked for $5500 to completely replace the entire system.\r
