Uncaring Doctor 1/7/2015

I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. Checking other rating sites, I found many others have come to the same conclusion. Dr. Iftequar Ahmed had no interest in checking her patient’s current medications before prescribing new ones. When my mother was under her care, Dr. Ahmed prescribed (at the same time) about 12 medications, most designed to do the exact same thing (e.g., three blood thinners) and were NOT supposed to be taken together. One time my mother was hospitalized for shortness of breath. When I told Dr. Ahmed my mother was acting “loopy,” she told she was in early stage dementia. When I said it came on very suddenly when she was prescribed a new medication, I was dismissed. I did some research and found out that her COPD medication and her beta blockers were not supposed to be used together. It took me five minutes to find this well-known side effect. Dr. Ahmed agreed and said she’d take care of it. But she forgot to submit the pharmaceutical change to the hospital so my mother remained on both medications for several days. When all the medications were straightened out, viola´, the dementia was gone. Then Dr. Ahmed told me my mother had to be placed in a nursing home because she was on blood thinners and was a fall risk (bad balance and used a walker). A cardiologist said that was a clear overreaction; she has hundreds of patients with the same diagnosis who don’t live in nursing homes. There were other options. For years, my mother complained that her doctor never listened to her. That everything was dismissed with a “well at your age…” My mother was right. more

Not so good doctor. 6/15/2006

I chose this lady because I prefer international doctors. At this time I had no major health issues. She seemed okay at first until I had major issues. I went to her for irregular bleeding, she examined me told me that I had to go to ER. I went to ER and they told me it was a menstrual cycle, probably brought on by stress but it was not an emergency and there were no signs to indicate so. Next time, I went to her because I had a chest infection, rather than examine me and prescribe antibiotics, she sent me to ER. They checked me, and said there was no sign of pneumonia and gave me antibiotics. Last and final time I saw her, I went to her because I had problems breathing (I have allergies during summer). She told me I might have asthma but did not run any tests. Instead she gave me meds for allergies. It was allergies, I knew this because I have it every year. She has a tendency to panic people rather then indicate that she is not qualified to give a diagnosis. In retrospect, I should have filed a complaint, more
