If you've ever been to any other Afghan or Persian restaurant in the area, you'd be hard pressed to rank the taste and quality of their food at anything better than a D minus. The restaurant is rather spacious, but the very young greeter took us to the corner by the kitchen, where another woman was using a table as her workstation. There were also many boisterous visitors congregating at the same corner. The choice of our table became clear when a large Asian-American family was also led to the corner next to the working table. Having seen a mostly empty restaurant, they refused the table and moved to a better location. I wondered whether my wife's Asian features had determined our corner table, and I found it quite surreal to see this type discrimination by Afghan refugees.
