The New Jersey State Aquarium is one of the best aquatic institutions. They have many display tanks with unusual fish. Also there is a lot of information available on the many species. It is a very educational environment for kids. There are tours available as well. The decor of the aquarium is really special. It is state of the art. The gift shop is expensive but they do have neat little keepsakes. more

Now Adventure Aquarium 10/24/2005

I have been here both before and after the remodel. I must say I love what they have done with the place. The new hippo exhibit and shark tank is the best by far. We go in there first to avoid the crowds and usually end up there in the end as well. I think parts of it are a bit narrow, especially with the many strollers being pushed through. Also, some of the tanks are a bit high for little legs. Kids love to touch the fish in the tanks. It is a great raining day trip or go and bring a lunch and eat by the river. Go early or late to beat the camps and class trips. more

Fun for the whole family 10/23/2005

This aquarium has just undergone renovations and is now called Adventure Aquarium. Lots to see here. Indoors is a shark tank where you can walk right under the tank and see the sharks swimming above you. There are two hippos and a tank where children can touch the skates. Outside there are shows with the seals and penguins. Very nice displays of fish and different educational programs. An hour before closing they reduce the rate. Since we were only there an hour we certainly didn't see it all. A picturesque view of the Delaware River is just outside and the ferry over to Philadelphia is only steps away. more
