Exciting View at Marine Life 8/29/2006

The Adventure Aquarium ( http://www.adventureaquarium.com ) is located in the waterfront of Camden, NJ just across the river from Philadelphia. When you come, you will have fun as you view all sorts of sea creatures through all 5 senses. One of my favorites was the weird fish exhibit (I'm sure there is a more formal name for it). There are flat screen TVs placed by the tanks showing you how this seemingly friendly fish can attacks its prey. The rock fish and piranhas are a couple in the collection. It's like watching a horror flick, you know what's going to happen, but just couldn't look away. My other favorite was the Hippo tank. You have to visit Button and Genny, better yet, bring the family! They literally go face to face with the guests from their tank. Did you know they can kill lions by trampling them? Finally, the aquarium also offers a tunnel that allows you to walk through the shark tanks. Upstairs, you can pet the smaller sharks and other creatures too many to name. It was very exciting experience and I am definitely coming back when in the area! But be forewarned: 1) Timed admission: Make sure you arrive early or call ahead and purchase tickets for will call. Otherwise, you can wait in line for 45 minutes to buy tickets. 2) Admission is $18.75 adults and $13.50 for kids (as young as 3). But it is really well worth it. 3) Don't plan on staying late in Camden. more

Really interesting 2/21/2006

NJ State Aquarium is now the renovated, updated Adventure Aquarium. We went on a cold January day and there were no crowds. The exhibits are really excellent. They have a hands on area for kids to pet a shark and examine other sea creatures. They offer several interactive demonstrations that give you info on the sea life and other animals they have on site. Such as, what equipment divers wear and how the equipment works, feeding sharks, feeding penguins etc. They even have a couple of hippos. They have a restaurant and a gift shop too. They have this huge glass tunnel you walk through where you get a real up close look at sharks. I would say this aquarium rivals any I have visited. It was a very enjoyable experience. Kids of all ages will enjoy the sights and get an education at the same time. more

Fun for the entire family 10/4/2005

A day at the NJ State aquarium is a fun experience for the whole family. The exhibits are wonderful and the aquarium and they have a lot of educational/hands on activities throughout the day, such as pet a sting-ray, classroom programs, and the new Deep Sleep program where children can sleep over at the aquarium. The shark tank and education programs are also very impressive. more

Greatly Improved 9/18/2005

This Aquarium has undergone an amazing transformation from boring gray fish tank to an exciting place to visit. Don't miss the Shark tank, which you can walk through and have very scary fish swimming over your head. There are outdoor Penguin and Seal shows to entertain the kids. The fish in the large dive tank are really amazing. Among the fish swimming by, there is a HUGE sea turtle and the largest skate I have ever seen. Tickets are issued on a timed basis, but I still found the place very crowded. The cafeteria was particularly crowded and I wished I had taken lunch in my back pack as to not waste so much time in line.. for boring overpriced food. There is a 4-D theater for an additional cost. I thought the day was already pretty expensive, so, we saved that for another day. more

great Aquariums 8/27/2005

It is a great aquarium. I have been there twice. The latest visit was after its construction and reopened. The Aquarium looks even better now. Their exhibits are marvelous and their shows are great and very educational. If you have kids, be sure to bring them there. Kids would get a lot of fun by visiting this great aquarium. more

Wonderful fun for your family 8/11/2005

This aquarium is now known as the "Adventure Aquarium". It has been significantly renovated and is now a great place to spend the day with your family. Children of all ages will love to explore the aquarium and see a variety of exhibits, including the Shark Realm and West African River Experience. (You can actually walk through a shark tunnel here!) And, the little ones will love to watch the Dive Show. Be forewarned: on summer weekdays, there are crowds of summer camp and day care students here, even in the morning. Price: On the high side, and you will probably buy something on the way out through the gift shop or food court. I recommend getting timed tickets to avoid long waits outside. I would have preferred that the management add a larger area for touching the sharks, since that exhibit was very crowded. But otherwise, I have to commend the state of New Jersey for doing a great job!!! more

Aqaruim in Camden, NJ 7/12/2005

This Aquarium is now called the Adventure Aquarium, It is on the waterfront in Camden, NJ. They do have timed entrance so you can't just go whenever you want. If you just show up they may tell you that you can't go in until 1 hr or so later. They do sell tickets ahead of time online though so you can plan. The set up is very nice, the animals are beautiful to look at. The coolest part is the shark tunnel...very fun! more
