Drama 4/4/2012

(Year, August 2010)\r There was plenty of drama that day. The dryer vent caught fire. My dog's vet, Dr. Dieter, was wisked off by an ambulance due to the incident. Let me be clear, I have no problems with Dr. Dieter, just Dr. Kern and her practice. Anyway, due to the delays, my dog collapses and required oxygen. While my dog is dying, the tech comes in to the waiting room, handing me two quotes on what work can be performed and at what cost? Outrageous! During this whole ordeal Dr. Kern is critizing my decisions of care while under Dr Dieter, not knowing my concerns, (chest-x-ray and placing him on prednisone). I believed that my dog would not survive the x-ray. Quess what? I was right. He died of respiratory failure during the procedure The chest x-rays showed he did have cancer. After his death, Dr. Kern does a 180 stating that there was nothing that could of been done, and that I had done the right thing afterall. Dr. Kern is all about the money and will try to cover her ass when necessary.\r \r more

BEST VETERINARIAN EVER! 11/7/2011

I have known Dr. Kern & her staff for 12 years. She has treated 6 of my dogs over the years. I followed her from Palm Harbor down to St. Pete, and now she has her own practice in Holiday (yea!!) She has almost all of the same staff (who have also followed her).I am extremely picky with my dogs. I have never had to worry about them when she is treating them or when they have had to stay for surgery. She has treated my dogs, and myself, like family. Her opinion means everything to me. She has given me medical advice, but never tried to push anything on me. I have total faith in her. I still have 4 dogs, who are all fairly young, and will stay with Dr. Kern for the rest of their lives. WE LOVE HER!! I truly hope this review helps someone who is looking for a GREAT Vet, with a GREAT staff! more

Rockstars!!! 11/3/2011

Dr. Kern and her staff Rock!!! Their prices are reasonable and the way they care for my babies is exceptional. I pass well over a half dozen Veterinarians in my area alone before I step foot on Advanced Vets doorstep. I don't slow down nor do I give a second glance. I go to Dr Kern because simply.....she's the best at what she does. more

I want to thank Dr. Kern & Dr. Dieter for all of the great things they have done for my two dogs! They are both so helpful and personable. The prices are excellent! My small dog was having some problems and Dr. Kern sent out one of her employees to hand deliver medication to me! I am extremely happy with my choice of bringing both my animals into this hospital, I wouldn't go anywhere else!. more

Best Hospital you could ask for!! 5/27/2011

This hospital is always nice and clean. The staff is extremely informative and great customer service! They know their customers by name and my pets. They always show me options and prices whether it is meds, food or certain services my two feline cats need. I have been going here for over a year now and I have never been let down :) Dr. Kern loves her patients like they are her own and Dr. Dieter is awesome all around!! My babies know when they go there they get a treat and a lot of love from staff! What more could I ask for!!! I feel so comfortable leaving my cats there and have many times! Staff comes in morning and night on weekends to do kennel so my kids won't starve or get super lonely! I love this place!! more

Business Owner 1/14/2011

WARNING: DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMAL HERE! Brought my cat in to get groomed & her annual shots...Returned back to me w/a broken hip, complimentary on behalf of Dr. Kern. Restrained my 7 LB. cat forcefully enough to where she dislocated her hip & then proceeded to put her back in her carrier w/nothing being said to me. Upon arriving @ home, I noticed my cat was limping & immediately notified Advanced Veterinary Hospital. Only after the 4th.visit & persistence from my end, were X-rays taken. Conclusion... dislocated hip. They have done NOTHING except try to cover up one lie with another. I highly recommend....IF YOU LOVE YOUR ANIMAL, DO NOT BRING THEM TO Advanced Veterinary Hospital. UNETHICAL & INHUMANE Veterinary practice. more

Dr. Kern works Wonders! 3/21/2010

What can I say, but A+!! \r My 3 year old cat (Snickers) was attacked by a pitbull - my neighbor told me about Dr. Kern and I rushed her over immediately. The staff is very compassionate & very helpful. Dr. Kern is wonderfully cheerful & I couldn't be happier to have her. She has completed one surgery so far with a possibility of another, but as of right now, Miss Snickers is doing well. She is already walking a little bit, and seems to be happy to be at home. Dr. Kern sent us home with clear instructions on how to care for her & is wanting to see her every few days to clean Snickers wounds so I don't have to. They allowed me to visit while she was recovering from surgery and let me spend as much time as I needed to spend with my Snickers. I would recommend Dr. Kern to ANYONE who truly loves their animal kids.\r PS - as another person commented, their prices are very upfront and very reasonable. I am planning on taking my other critters to her as soon as Snickers is fully recovered. more

New doctor is great 8/27/2009

What a nice place. Dr Brockway sold the practice to a very good and very nice Dr Jennifer Kern. So forget any old negative reviews that are here already. She's young and seems to know all the latest stuff and everyone is nice and cheerful, so it was a good experience for me and my dog. Now I give him anti-inflamatory pills, and he can walk fine. more

Let me be with my sick cat 8/11/2008

I had to take my older cat into Dr. Brockways office years ago with very strange symptoms. He was walking funny and grinding his teeth. Dr. knew right away that he had gotten into something poison, possible his food. He treated him and allowed me to stay in the back with him for hours. The Dr. checked on him repeatedly. I asked to take him home and Dr said it was up to me to take him home and keep him a quite small room and to call if it got worse. He sent me with needles filled with water to hydrate him with every hour. By morning my cat was fine. He lived another 7 years to the great age of 18 years. He is my vet now with more animals and always will be. more

First off let me say this:\r Word of mouth is the best advertisement!!!!!!!!!\r I was a client there about 3 yrs ago and overheard Dr. Brockway yelling at the receptionist who was very sweet and knew the patients very well, she was very young but she knew her job and the clients. I soon found out she left the practice when I asked about her the next time i came in to the facility. I stopped taking my animals there after this because why would you want to give someone that has no consideration for his employees? Imagine how they would treat your animals! more

AVOID AT ALL COST - MUCH BETTER OPTIONS 1/14/2007

Information pertains to Dr. Brockway and reception staff ("Elizabeth").\r \r Our aged cat required euthanasia and when we called we were told that it was inconvenient for them to do it on a Saturday - although, if we'd like, we could drop our cat off for him to do in our absence! We were told that they would not consider inconveniencing other clients with regular appointments to perform such a solemn procedure - unheard of! What animal lover on the planet wouldn't understand a 5 or 10 minute delay while another is put to peace. With all the other veterinary options in the area, it is best to bypass this office and seek far more understanding and compassionate care for your loved animal family.\r \r Solely the opinion of one (former) client.\r \r -JMC more

I would like to thank everyone at Advanced Veterinary Hospital for everything that they have done for my 2 older dogs that I had to put down this year. It's been very hard for me and my family. Dr. Brockway is very compassionate. He and the staff members went above and beyond what they did for me. They have a very clean place and reasonable prices. They make you feel welcome when you enter the door. I will keep going to them in the future with my many cats and my other 2 dogs. Thank-you very much from the bottom of my heart!!! more

Very caring hospital, resonable prices, clean hospital 9/21/2006

I have been taking my cats to see 2 great Dr's. Dr.B & Dr. S. They are most caring and informative with questions I have about my pets health.My cats have had the Spay/declawed, using the laser, the recovery of them from surgery was very fast. The pain from Surgery wasn't even noticed.I found that the prices where up front and not hidden like other vets, with coupons and hook-N-line you with unnecessary tests, products. I price shopped up & down US 19. Advanced Vet is the best for my pets. Also the hospital is very clean and always smells great. :) PROS: Same great Dr's have been there for years, great receptionists & Vet Techs CONS: None more

Very Unprofessional 4/4/2006

I did not like this vet for many reasons. They over charge and I know this because I worked for many years at an animal hospital until recently. The receptionists were very rude and condescending at times and at other times act as if they do not have a clue what they are doing. The doctor himself comes across as very nice, but I found out he isn't! I thought he was being represented wrongly by his incompetent staff, but in fact, they were right on! He is as immature and rude as his receptionists. PROS: CONS: Rude, Unprofessional, Over Charge, Incompetent more

caring staff 10/25/2005

I think this a good animal hospital with good knowledgable doctors. My cat was very sick and we could not figure out why, they took her in and made her feel very comfortable and ran tests until they cam eup with a diagnosis, which was correct. they answered my questions, let me know they would be on call if I had anymore emergencies. PROS: good staff CONS: none more

They did a good job. 7/11/2005

When I first moved to Pasco County I didn't have a veterinarian for my cat. I really had no idea of who to use. I looked in the yellow pages and phoned this one. I took my cat in, in the morning, and they spade him. Later in the day I picked him up. They did a great job for me. I did change vets later on, as I found one almost on my doorstep. PROS: Did what I asked. CONS: A little too far away for me. more
