I went to see Dr. Walker for an evaluation in Dec of 2009. From what I had learned of chiropractic I wanted to make sure that I was in alignment. I was not in any pain but xrays showed that there was a lot of corrections to be made. After 3 months of adjustments and traction there was huge improvement in the curve of my neck and my hips were getting level. After 6 months there had been over 20 degrees of correction made - in essence saving me from degeneration, pain, disability and disease down the road. I had also learned that chiropractic can help with many other issues, including blood pressure. I had been taking blood pressure medicine and through a procedure called a ""toggle"" and weekly adjustments I am happy to report that I have been off the medicine since June of 2010! My blood pressure averages 110-115 over 73-78 and I am truly grateful. I am a health advocate and I know that my regular visits to Advanced Wellness Institute have added quality years to my life! I've had back issues since I was in middle school. There were times I would actually miss school because of back pain. I went to several chiropractors since college but nothing ever seemed to work. Dr Walker consulted with me and my wife and took the time to explain, in detail, the process he would employ. He was very honest about the fact that it would take time and I would have to be consistent. Within the first month I was feeling relief. When I got the next set of X-rays the difference was incredible! I knew I was feeling better, but now I had objectionable proof. I'm excited to say that since about November last year, I've had no back pain, no more spasms, and no more throwing my back out. I'm able to do things now that I couldn't before because I knew I'd end up horizontal for the day. I'm healthier than I've ever been, and the knowledge I've gained about my health has been priceless! On top of all this AWI has been an incredible place for our whole family. My two year old son looks forward to going to Dr. Walker's office! I have experienced chronic neck and upper back pain, tingling sensations, and numbness in my left hand for many years as a result of herniated disks (C5-6) and spinal alignment. Several different courses of treatment proved very discouraging when they failed to bring me long-term relief. For one more try, I decided to consult Dr. Walker. It was a very good decision. He listened intently, reviewed my previous reports, and took additional x-rays before explaining his suggested course of treatment. The facts of the test reports were not new to me. What interested me most was Dr. Walker’s holistic approach and long-term plan for not only eliminating my pain and preventing it from recurring, but also for creating and incorporating lifestyle changes for good spinal health. In September 2010 I injured my lower back. This caused discomfort, pain, stiffness difficulty bending/straightening and so forth. I decided to consult Dr. Walker after almost a week where there was little or no improvement. He took a full history, gave a thorough exam and did x-rays. Afterward he consulted with me on the results. He had reviewed the history and analyzed the x-rays. He showed me in detail what my condition was in black & white. Besides the current injury, I had significant loss of curvature in both my upper and lower spine. It was also discovered that my left hip was lower than my right, causing my spine to be displaced to the left. Dr. Walker recommended a course of treatment, and was honest in telling me that there may be only a 50/50 chance of making any significant improvement in my lower spine. I committed to the treatment and received electro-stimulation therapy, adjustments, exercise regimens, orthotics and traction for both my upper and lower spine. The symptoms related to my injury were gone or much improved in a few weeks and I continued treatment. In that time I received two new sets of x-rays. Each has shown significant increases in the curvature of both my upper and lower spine. I think the improvement was even more than Dr. Walker had expected. The orthotics had also helped to level out my left and right sides. Dr. Walker cares about his patients in regard to their back, neck and other problems in the short term and has techniques to address them. He also cares about our long term health in general. Since our spines house the nerves that control every function in our bodies, a healthy spine also promotes healthy organs, muscles and so forth.
