Was supposed to accept a FFL transfer of a disassembled custom firearm.
Was not supposed to do anything else to said firearm. All other area FFLs I have ever dealt with never even OPEN THE BOX until I get there on transfers.
Tracking said he got it a week before he admitted he had it.
Went to pick up. Was assembled and damaged. He had thrown the box out too. I checked with custom builder as to if the damage was existent when shipped and he said NO. Was insured USPS. No recourse to insurance IF it was USPS that caused the damage because he destroyed the packaging. Makes him look like probable damage culprit. I know, not provable, but I'm stating things as I see them on the ground. Any way you slice it, I find/found his behavior unprofessional.
Unauthorized smithing on his part.
Has not returned emails and was rude on the telephone.
These are the facts as I know them.
I gave him an opportunity to explain by email or phone why this transpired and he has been entirely non-responsive to emails where I about begged him to not have to tell people about this and clear his name.
I'd advise going somewhere else.
Brand new custom rifle with a ding in it I'll have to fix and he shouldn't have done anything but log the serial number and transfer it anyway. Octagon barrel muzzle, too, so the repair is more complicated that just chucking it up in a lathe and then refinishing the steel.
Pros: Pro: Didn't entirely destroy a custom rifle
Cons: Con: Everything You Can Think Negative of a Person
