Advance Counseling Center was founded in 2004 for the purpose of enabling individuals to discover, develop, and nurture their untapped strengths.
Jacalyn Ramsey, MA, NCC, LCPC, is a National Certified Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. She is originally from New Orleans, where she received her Masters Degree in Community Counseling. She also holds a Certificate of Professional Studies in Adlerian Psychology. Her experience covers a wide spectrum of clientele in different settings, including families, children, couples and family therapy, and substance abuse group work. She and her husband also work together as mediators.
Jacalyn has experience working with families, couples, individuals, adolescents, and children. By using solid clinical skills, she has treated such issues as adjustment problems, marital and relationship problems, communication skills, divorce recovery, parenting, stepparenting, co-dependency, substance, abuse, trauma and sexual abuse, depression, anxiety, phobias, eating disorders, anger management, grief and loss, life transitions and behavioral issues. Through her caring nature, she has the unique ability to offer hope and healing to result in changed lives.
The tenets that shape Jacalyn's counseling include the basic belief that individuals have untapped strengths that can be developed and nurtured. Jacalyn's success is based upon her belief that vision, perseverance and faith are integral in the achievement of lifelong goals. Her personal life experiences have also greatly contributed to her therapeutic approach. In addressing physical, mental and spiritual needs, Jacalyn uses an integrative perspective, incorporating such therapies as: Adlerian, Cognitive Behavioral, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Gestalt, Reality, Solution-Focused, and Family Systems. In counseling she utilizes self-discovery through experiential exercises, art therapy, inner child work, visualization, bibliotherapy, and play therapy with children.
Jacalyn is a member of the following professional organizations: American Counseling Association, Chi Sigma Iota International Honor Society of Professional Counseling, Idaho Society of Individual Psychology, Idaho Mental Health Counselor Association, Idaho Counseling Association, Idaho Association for Play Therapy, Idaho Mediation Association, Alpha Chi Omega National Sorority, American Association of Christian Counselors, and Cambridge Who's Who.

Through family therapy,parent-child relationships have been strengthened and given new direction by improving parenting and communication skills. Blended families have discovered new ways to connect with each other.
By using Imago Relationship Therapy with couples,she improves communication skills,creates better understanding and unconditional acceptance. As a result-oriented therapist,Jacalyn's goal is to achieve positive results in a timely manner.
In treating adolescents,Jacalyn creates a calm atmosphere to allow them to relax and express their feelings. She has experience with such problems as low self-esteem,self-mutilation,drug abuse,eating disorders,and suicidal ideation.
In working with children,Jacalyn utilizes art,play therapy,games,and puppets to create a therapeutic relationship resulting in open expression of thoughts and feelings
