Adobe Animal Hospital

Dr. Visco has been our vet for 1 cat and 2 dogs and he deserves the Best of Petaluma award he has won from the voters/readers of the Argus Courier. I don't understand what 2 of the prima donnas were talking about -- the place is NOT filthy. It is small (it was a cottage at one time) and it is visited by many animals every day. They can vomit or "let go" just as in any other vet waiting room. It's the care and attention we get from him and is wonderful staff that is important, not a fancy office. Dr. Visco is retiring Sept 1 and he will be greatly missed. more

My vet for the past 3 years. The staff is very personalble and friendly and responsive. The doctor was very knowledgable and handled my pet as if it was his own. I am pleased to feel my pets are in good hands. more

I just relocated and needed a new vet. I had a hard time believing the reviews so I visited Adobe Vet Clinic myself. \r \r I don't know if he's a good vet or not but I would never bring my pets here. It does not look (or smell) clean. It's old. \r \r I'm not sure what low standards are acceptable for operating a pet health care facility in Petaluma, but I'm looking for a place that doesn't require wiping your shoes when you leave the building. more

I just want to say that I have been taking my 2 dogs and 2 cats to Adobe Family Pet Clinic for several years now and have always been more than satisfied with any diagnoses and care I have received there. I find Dr. Visco and his staff to be extremely kind and friendly. As for the "delapidated old house" I would rather go to a small practice that's kind and homey than a large cold facility any day. One more thing, in the many years I've been going there never have I once encountered employees named Christine or Michelle; get your facts straight. more

Seldom do I take the time to post a review, but Adobe Family Pet Clinic is such a wonderful and caring pIace I would be remiss if I did not share my experiences with them. \r Dr Visco has taken care of my 4 dogs, and 3 cats for over 12 years now. His compassion and expertise has saved more than one of my animals. I love the fact that I can ask any question and he will not make me feel it was insignificant, rather he will reassure me and answer them completely for me.\r The staff is always so friendly and helpful, always making you feel as if you are part of the family in a very comfortable, soothing environment. Any time I call, they assist me and get me in as soon as I need to be there.\r My animals are part of my family and I wouldn't trust anyone but Dr. Visco to take care of them. Dr. Visco diagnosed and healed my cat's eye when 3 other vets couldn't (one was an eye specialist). Maybe it's because he is a Phd as well as a veterinarian. He also saved my Rottweiller who needed emergency surgery and she was up and doing great right away and is now 12 years old! I know at least 5 people who also love him and he won the People's choice award in Petaluma 2 years in a row. I also love him because he isn't trying to gouge me as other vets have done. He always gives me all the options and is very caring and as I said - smart. He is the best vet around!! more

Two things I was willing to overlook was the dilapidated house he calls his practice and the 15 minutes he ignored me when I arrived on my first visit while he flipped through papers at his desk. What I cannot overlook is a simplistic diagnosis for a severe problem.\r I brought in my Lab because she was lethargic, no appetite, regurgitating and salivating. $600.00 later she was prescribed Pepcid AC. The very next day I brought her to an emergency hospital where she had to undergo an emergency hysterectomy and has esophagitis. \r If you have any concerns about your pets, bypass every local vet and visit VCA Animal Care Center in Rohnert Park. more

While I have had no issues with the Dr. himself, I have had a few issues where the staff seemed to be less than competent. Twice my dog had complications with care provided by the vet techs. Both issues were after my dogs received shots (microchipping and vaccine). At my previous vet, he had never had issues. Again, nothing long lasting or permanent, but still not my favorite office either. PROS: Docs are good, location convenient CONS: Techs so-so, office a bit old and dingy. more
