Terrible experience. If I dropped my dog off somewhere, I would expect them to be excited. The staff of Acres, couldn't wait to get me out of there. \r We let our Great Dane stay...

We have used this kennel several times and had been fairly satisfied with the care - but NOT so happy with the price and their overall indifferent attitude to the (paying) customer. After a recent stay, we discovered (when we got home) that our dog had several open wounds on her body. I called the kennel immediately and they denied any knowledge of unusal activities and brushed it off as ""autoimmune"" disease issues. We took our dog to the veterinarian first thing the next morning and he insisted this was either a fight with another animal or some other form of abuse. We never a call back from the kennel to check on the status/ well-being of our pet.\r \r Bottom line: NEVER again! more

Excellent Experience! 11/7/2010

My two dogs and two cats had never been boarded before. One dog is an active beagle the other an anxious lab/collie mix. One cat is 14 years old and requires daily eye medication and the other is a rambunctious adult. They spent 7 days at Acres of Fun and came home very happy and healthy. The staff was very gracious to me even though I was very nervous about leaving them. They let tour the entire kennel without notice before making reservations. They asked me questions in order to keep the animals on their usual feeding and medication schedule. They fed my very old cat extra at my request. It was an excellent experience. more

Best Kennel Ever!!! 7/10/2010

Acres of Fun Kennel kept my 2 labs over the 4th of July Holiday, and I cannot say enough about how clean the place was! You could eat off of the floors. The staff was so accomodating! Everyone was so eager to make me feel so comfortable and ask all about my dogs feeding and medication schedule. They are reasonable for the large kennels, and huge play yards, that again are spotless!! They really work hard to have beauliful grounds, and kennels to keep my pets safe and comfortable. Do yourself a favor and board your dog on your next vacation at Acres of Fun Kennel, you will not ever board anywhere else again!!!! This is a Family owned Business, that also lives on the property, How much better could it get!!! \r Pros: Cleanest Place Ever, Large indoor/outdoor sepatated runs more

In response to the last review I would like to point out that all of the facts are not stated in reguard to the charges involved and no mention made that special arangements were made to meet the customer outside of our hours at NO CHARGE. And pet was also picked up outside of or normal hours without notice and only normal charges were applied.\r We strive to provide the best care possible for all our customers and be as flexible as possible when it comes to our hours and fees. TOTAL RIP OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 11/29/2008

The staff of Acres, couldn't wait to get me out of there. \r We let our Great Dane stay for 6 days and he lost at least 10 pounds. We received no phone call from the boarder. Our dog wouldn't come when we got home. He cowered when we approached him, and hasnt been himself for a while. \r I would HIGHLY advise you to look elsewhere. When we picked our dog up, we were given attitude, charged for an extra night, and 25 dollar pick up fee. \r Total rip off if you care for your pet!!!!!!!!!! Pros: large dog run Cons: weird hours, unfriendly staff. more

Best boarding kennel in VA! Very family friendly and clean environment!! 8/16/2008

I have boarded my 2 dogs and cat at many kennels in the Richmond area over the last several years and nothing compares to Acres of Fun! I discovered them through word of mouth a few months ago and drove out to Powhatan for a tour (and I live all the way in Glen Allen!!) I immediately fell in love. The farm like setting is so nice, the staff are wonderful and answered all of my questions with no hesitations. I boarded my pets for 2 weeks and when I came to pick them up, my dogs didn't want to get in the car!! They had a great time... wagging their tails and romping around like they owned the place. The prices I thought were very reasonable and my pets were clean and didn't smell like they were soaking in their own urine like other kennels I have taken them to. Overall, this is an awesome kennel and I definitely will be boarding again soon!! I will never go anywhere again except for this kennel! more
