Kimberly - The one we have been searching for 10/31/2007

I have found the VERY BEST stylist in the City. Kimberly is the stylist that most of us search and search for and some of us are fortunate to finally find. Not only does she give GREAT haircuts, she does my color and highlights like no one else ever has ? I?m so pleased with Kimberly?s work. Even with all the color and highlights, my hair is in really good condition, again thanks to Kimberly. When I leave the salon after she has done my hair ? I feel great. Many, many are the times when leaving other salons that I have not felt that way, in fact would go home and restyle my hair. I cannot imagine anyone going to Kimberly for a haircut/style or color and not being really pleased and feeling good about how they look --- And to top it off she is so very nice. Pros: all good more

Dennis used to be a chef, and he brings the same grace and assurance to hair color. I went in with a color emergency and he fixed it without breaking stride! And without damaging my hair. My color is natural and classy. His relaxed personality influences the whole salon. Not stuffy or stuck-up, it is friendly and approachable. Holly is amazing! 10/7/2007

I have been traveling from stylist to stylist for over 4 years now and everytime I leave the salon, I am disappointed with either the work they did or the personality of the stylist. I was referred to Holly from a friend of mine and when I made the appointment, I was thinking to myself ""here I go again"". When I walked into the salon, there was a warm and welcoming energy. The salon is very unique, I've never seen anything like it. It's absolutely adorable. I was a little hesitant, as I have always had unpleasant service in the past, but Holly made me feel comfortable right away. I'm not sure what it was that made me so relaxed, but just the way she did the consultation assured me she knew what she was doing. Not only did she know what she was doing, but she actually has a strong passion for it that you can see in her eyes. I would recommend her to anyone. I couldn't stay away from the mirror. The way she cut my hair framed my face perfectly and the color looked absolutely amazing. Go see her soon before she's booked! Pros: The comfortable environment more

Melissa is the best ever!! 10/2/2007

Melissa Ruiz works Sundays only (she's also the Color Specialist at San Francisco Institute of Esthetics & Cosmetology full-time) but she's very accomodating with her schedule. She really listens during the consultation and gave me exactly what I wanted, making the appropriate changes for my face shape and hair texture. Her specialty is color yet I also got a fabulous haircut. Oh, and was her shampoo the most relaxing shampoo I've ever experienced! more

Holly was a referral from a friend of mine so I was a bit nervous as my former stylist moved to another state. You have got to understand that my former hair stylist was Redken Stylist of the year so I was a bit particular when it came to my hair. Amazing haircuts and conversation 9/8/2007

Ever since I moved away from home and abandoned my favorite hair-stylist, I have had to endure one horrible and self-esteem ruining haircut after another. Finally, in San Francisco, Holly saved my hair and my future. When she was done cutting and coloring my hair, I actually said, ""I want to make-out with my bangs."" They were that hot. Holly and I talked extensively before she got to work; she asked me what I envisioned, she suggested what would look good, and we looked at style and color books together -- she was very patient, understanding, and fun. Our conversation during the haircut and color was one of the best I've had in San Francisco. I was at first worried to see hair flying all over the place, but Holly knew what she was doing, and you can now hear my friends saying things to me like, ""This is the best you have ever looked,"" or, ""This is the greatest haircut to date,"" or, ""I want to make-out with you."" Preston at Acme Hair Salon/great hairstylist 9/4/2007

Preston is excellent!!! He is original, creative, absolutely fun and I would recommend him in a heartbeat. I took a chance and am so glad I did. I have saved so much time because the haircut simply takes care of itself. I left the salon with a cut that fits my personality, enhances my positive features, and has just the right amount of funk . Now what more could one ask for. And what fun we had!!! more

Kim G is outstanding!! 8/31/2007

I have been trying to grow my hair long for years, but something always happens that causes me to give up - a bad cut, and awkward stage that results in me chopping it off again, etc. After visiting Kim G. at Acme Head and Body I feel renewed hope that my efforts to grow out my hair will pay off this time!! I went to see Kim to get a trim after going 3 months without touching it. Kim actually told me that she would not cut my hair, that the layers are still too short, and that I needed to give it at least 2 more months of growth. She was clearly not motivated by money - she would not take a dime for the consultation she gave me, which included a lesson about color and moisture, product recommendations, and a flat iron style! She sent me on my way with a strategy as to how to get through the growing stage, and guaranteed me that if I follow her rules and see her for a few trims over the months, within 9 months I will have the beautiful long hair I've always wanted. I feel like now that I have Kim on my side, it is going to happen! I can't wait to see her again at Acme Hair and Body. You should too! more

The Salon is a funky, and comfortable atmosphere, and full of talent. Not only is the salon itself a gem, but my stylist is as well. I enjoy going to a salon, sitting down, and just telling my stylist to do whatever they want. Each time I visit Holly, I really don't have to explain to her what I want because she knows my style, knows what's in, and is a very creative, and talented stylist. I have bigger things to worry about than getting a bogus haircut. :) Pros: Excellent/ well educated stylists, great ambiance Cons: They don't have a full bar? more

Holly is the BEST! 8/29/2007

Holly has been coloring, cutting and styling my hair for 4 years now. She started out in Sacramento and when she moved to San Francisco (because her talent outgrew Sacramento) there was no question in my mind that it was worth it to me to make the drive to the bay area every couple months to have my hair done. I have a number of friends that have become her client through me just because they are so impressed with my hair styles through out the years. Holly has a great way of finding something new for you that you will love if that's what you want, or just maintaining a great style. more

Holly Howard did a wonderful job dying and styling my hair. I was indecisive at first but she helped me to find the cutest look that really worked for me. It's been a couple weeks now and it still looks amazing and I continue to get compliments on it. I definitely recommend her for anyone looking for a new stylist, especially for coloring. I was searching so very hard for someone to cut and style my very long very thick lace front...and what do you know...Holly was there to the rescue. She cut it so well that people have a very hard time trying to figure out if it is my natural hair! Thanks Holly your the best! more

For about 5 yrs i would not let anyone touch my hair. im a makeup artist based out of denver, co. & traveled out to SF for the 4th of july. -since i was in the SF area i was ready for a major change for my unruly wavy hair that used to cover my back. and hearing in colorado & from a best friend that lives in sacramento about this fabulous HoLLy. i was up for this lovely stylist to work her magic on me for a change. Holly used her versatile skills and created a very versatile haircut & color for me. you name it i can do it to my hair that is now mid length (50's, modern, mohawk, straight, curled, and even naturally wavy when im in a hurry). more

My favorite cut and color ever! 8/15/2007

I went yesterday to Acme and Holly was the stylist who worked on my hair. She did an AMAZING job. i love my new hair cut and color so much! She is the best hairstylist i have been to. I totally recommend her. I couldnt be happier. It was perfect. She worked so hard on my hair, even though its crazy thick, and i just love how it turned out. Thanks Holly! Holly is AMAZING! 8/13/2007

I wanted a hair cut that would make a statement about what type of person that I am. Something fun, and easy going, young and decidedly hip. I saw a girl on the street with a totally cute hair cut and asked here where she had gotten her hair done and she told me all about HOLLY at acme. Since the girl had such amazing things to say about this holly i decided to make an appointment for a cut AND color. Big step for me. I made an appointment online, which was super easy, and Holly's evening hours worked great with my schedule. Acme, where Holly works is cute and retro and has the most comfortable shampoo chairs you will ever sit in. Each stylist has their own 50's looking vanity, so you have a lot of personal space, you won't have other clients or stylists falling all over you, like in other salons. And did i like my hair? I LOVED IT. it is exactly what I never even knew I wanted. Its better then what I ever thought my hair could look like. She took into account my personal style, face shape and coloring... even how much time I put into my hair. Pros: Friendly, unpretentious, and extremely talented! Cons: none! more

Kimberly gets me 8/11/2007

I too followed Kiblerly to Acme from GSquared. Yesterday I got the best color I've ever had - again. I went in with all blong hair and came out looking like Giselle (well, the hair did). Just like in the picture I had with me. She is amazing! She totally gets what a want and does exactly that. My hair is in so much better condition now then when we first started over a year ago. And did I mention, the woman is great fun - you will not be bored while getting the best color ever. Pros: Fantastic color! more

Best Colorist Ever!! 8/7/2007

I am shocked. That after nearly 4 months since I last received my hair coloring from Kimberly G, I am still getting complements on how well the job was done. If you're a student like myself or either forgets to maintain regular touch-ups, you must see Kimberly G!! She has a signature color weaving technique that makes one feel like their coloring was just done yesterday!! I naturally have dark black hair, which makes a daunting coloring job, but definitely not for Ms. G... Pros: Conveniently located Cons: none! more
