I joined Koei-Kan of Bellevue two years ago, with the twin goals of getting into shape and reconnecting my body and mind. Six months in, I'd accomplished that goal and began setting new ones. In the process, the Bellevue dojo has become a home away from home, the sessions a necessary part of my routine. It's a way to channel the stresses of life into transformative energy. I'm stronger, healthier, and have a better understanding of my capabilities and limitations.\r

The dojo's chief instructor, Sharif Robles, is dedicated to helping all students meet their potential. Indeed, he's created a dojo culture where all students help one another. It's common for black belts to lead impromptu classes, focusing on those skills that will help that group of students the most. The dojo has a truly family atmosphere, one that fosters learning and exploration.
