Exceptionally compassionate doctor 1/27/2012

I can't say enough good things about Dr. DeLorenzo and the entire staff at Abingdon Square Veterinary Clinic. She's gentle, compassionate, thorough and more than competent. I live in the neighborhood and my first dog, Rupert, used to make a beeline for Dr. DeLorenzo's anytime we were nearby. Sometimes we'd just stop in to say ""hi"" to Dr. DeLorenzo because he loved her so. When Rupert was 11 1/2 years old, he was diagnosed with oral melanoma that had metastacized to the lungs. Dr. DeLorenzo explained everything in detail and referred us to a veterinary oncologist for treatment. She was incredibly compassionate to both me and Rupert. When there was nothing more they could do for him and Rupert started having seizures, we went to Dr. DeLorenzo for euthanasia. I can't imagine how I could have gotten through that process without a doctor as kind and compassionate as Dr. DeLorenzo. Her demeanor actually made the process, which was heartbreaking, a little easier. After his death, we received a card saying that a donation had been made in Rupert's name to a hospital that treats other dogs with cancer. What a lovely gesture! I've just gotten a new puppy and he's already been to see Dr. DeLorenzo. I know that he'll receive the best care possible with her. more

Best doctor 12/22/2010

I really like Dr DeLorenzo. She is caring and has the best side manners. I just wish all doctors were as compassionate. more

Very caring doctor 12/22/2010

A friend recommended Dr DeLorenzo when I got my puppy few months ago. She is a wonderful vet, extremely caring along with the rest of her staff. I only wish I could find doctors for myself who display as much compassion. more

Solid Doctor 6/6/2010

Dr. DeLorenzo has been an excellent doctor to our senior dog these past few years. She helped give us an extra year+ with her after finding mammary gland cancer during a regular work up. She also knows when to refer pet owners/parents to specialists for areas that are outside her expertise. DeLorenzo's judgment is sound and advice is spot on. She knows what's the most important thing to focus on, what are the most life-threatening and is strong enough to help you understand when it's time to manage for quality of life. Her bedside manner is the best we've encountered in new york. And she ALWAYS follows up and takes the extra step to keep coordinated with specialist doctors elsewhere. The office is also very well run and Jessica, the Clinic Manager, makes us feel like Norm at Cheers. She always remembers what's going on. We are so grateful to have had her as our vet. Pros: compassionate, sound judgement more

A Wonderful, Caring Doctor 1/9/2009

I don't know how ""peggy1138"" could write such a review of a person who is the closest to an ""angel for animals"" that I have ever met. This person doesn't even spell Dr. ""Kimmel''s name correctly!!! Her review is a disgrace and completely untrue!!! I have been taking my cat to Dr. DeLorenzo for six years since she acquired Dr. Kimble's clinic. JoJo has had several medical problems, which Dr. D has treated with sincere compassion and caring and referred me when necessary to the proper facility if it was an issue she could not remedy. If there is an emergency, she never hesitates to have me bring him to be checked as quickly as possible. Her loving care makes both JoJo and me feel comfortable and soothed. I have the utmost confidence in her treatments, judgments, and recommendations. Her staff is also caring, loving, and efficient. This clinic is definitely a ""must"" if you want the best care for your pet in a caring atmosphere. Pros: Caring and Loving Personnel more

Couldn't ask for a better Vet 3/7/2008

I have been taking my cats to Dr. DeLorenzo for 10 years and have never had any problem at all. She has always been compassionate, patient, and loving. I would recommend her to anyone who loves their pet. more

A Special Vet 3/7/2008

Dr. DeLorenzo has been in the Village for at least 10 years, first near University Place, now on Greenwich Ave. I met her when my dog had a crisis and we had to choose the closest vet who could see him. Dr. D gave him the most compassion end of life care I could ever hope to see. Since then with each of our older, foster dogs, she's been our vet and we've had nothing but positive experiences. She's special. more

Compassionate care with a careing staff!! 12/28/2007

First, I am writting because of the NEGATIVE review that was given about Dr. Delorenzo and the staff. She HAS been living practicing veterinary medicine for a very long time in the east village and the west village. I know because I have been with her for over 10 years. She is the MOST sincere and loving veterinarian that I have worked with. I have worked with many vets and they don't even compair to her. She practices with genuine love, care, compassion, commitment and always has the patients best interest at heart beyond all else. She is the FIRST to explain in detail what is reccommended and best for your pet. She has helped alot of the clients when it came to cutting cost due to a clients personal financial situation. She never allowes the patient to become highly stressed due to a minor procedure, she just stops, and lets the client know that it is not worth the stress for the patient and we will try at another time. Our receptionists are kind, patient and treat our clients with respect and dignity!!!!! I am truly SHOCKED that anyone can write such a horrible review about us. I have never written a review for anything but, when I read it, I felt that I had to write and respond. I am NOT writing this to gain more clients, save our reputation or to ignore what the other person wrote. She had every write to her opinion but, I KNOW that what she had said about Dr.Delorenzo and the staff is completely untrue!!!!. I am a HUGE animal advocate and I would never work at a practice that doe not have the patients best interest first!. We truly love our patients and treat them exactly as we would treat my own!!!!. Pros: loving staff with compassion and dedication to our patients and clients Cons: closed sunday more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! A-VOID!!!! 9/7/2007

When I made the appointment, no one told me Dr. Kimmel sold the business. I went & they assigned me Dr.Dianne DeLorenzo. (Later I found out she purchased the business). It was supposed to be a basic annual exam. Usually I paid under $80. Dr. Kimmel clipped my dogs nails, did an annal expression & checked her out- all included in the cost of the basic exam . First, DeLorenzo kept me waiting 45 minutes Then without examing the dog, she said that he'd needed a bl00d test (?) She did a full work up (she wouldn't say why). When she did the annal expression, the dog howled like she'd been ripped in two.. When they did the bl00d test, they brought her into a tiny room & when she returned, the dog had a huge bandage on his leg. When I got the bill I couldnt believe it. Over $400. I asked DeLorenzo, but she couldnt see me cause she had a backlog of people. She whispered something to the receptionist & when she closed the door, the receptionist started yelling in my face in front of everyone (it was humilating). Some of the items on the bill were:$40 to clip the dogs nails $120 for bl00d work. $40 for annal expression (that actually damaged th dog), They gave my dog shots that I found out he didn't need, & when I removed the bandage on his leg, they ripped the vein. (I had to go to another vet to have it checked.) I wish to god I could file a complaint with the city & have her shut down. From what I saw, she is a ruthless business women padding the bill, gouging Dr. Kimmel's unsuspecting customers. When I told someone from the neighborhood, she told me Dr. DeLorenzo had just moved to the city & brought an expensive place, but on the web site it says she's been ""practicing in Greenwitch Village for 12 years"", (I never heard of her before & I'm from here) Anyway, if you have an animal that you love, or you don't feel like being ripped off- DO NOT GO TO ABINGDON SQUARE VET CLINIC! There was nothing with my dog before I went to Dr. DeLorenzo afterwards the dog was injuried. Cons: DeLorenzo hurt my dog, overcharged me, and had her receptionist yell/humilate at me when I asked to explain the huge bill more
