Nice, inexpensive day trip 4/6/2006

You get what you pay for. I trip to the zoo, complete with snacks for the kids and the animals, admission, and souvenirs runs me about $20. Where else can you take three kids and have a nice time for that little amount of money? Not too many. No, there aren't as many animals as some other bigger larger zoos. No the grounds aren't as elaborate. But it is still a nice zoo. Our favorite part is the fish. You can chunk your crackers out there, and those huge catfish come swimming. Overall a very nice experience. more

Abilene Zoo 4/1/2006

This is a fun place to go for the day with your family, or just with a friend. It is not a big zoo, but still fun. They are working at improving the zoo and as that progresses, I think this will become a better place. I think it is too long that Abilene has ignored improving the zoo! more

Not great, but okay 12/31/2005

If your children (or you for that matter) have spent much time in larger,nicer zoo's such as the Fort Worth Zoo then don't waste your time going to the Abilene Zoo because you'll all be dissapointed. However, if they haven't had that experience then they will probably really enjoy the Abilene Zoo. They have the basic animals you expect at a Zoo and the highlight is always feeding the ducks. more

Fun outing 10/23/2005

The Abilene zoo is nothing spectacular, but it's a fun place to spend an afternoon, especially if you have children. They do not have a great selection of animals and the ones they do have seem to be wasting away to nothing. But the giraffes are usually pretty fun to see and you can feed them. The zoo is located next to a park so the kids can play after your zoo outing. more
