Based upon the word on the street, I went here with high expectations but was disappointed. The presentations looked amateur and artsy-craftsy, not artistic. The waitress regularly disappeared (people at a table next to us finally left because they couldn't get anybody's attention). Even though the restaurant was not very busy, our party of 3 adults ordering the expensive "special dinner" found, halfway through our meal, that a large noisy group with bratty children was seated directly next to us.... poor consideration for our dining experience. I would not go again. Pros: Small, non-chain-restaurant atmosphere; fresh fish. Cons: Inattentive service, sloppy presentation, expensive. more

Must try dishes are the seabass and blue fin toro sashimi. Taste and texture are mouth-watering! Just a heads up on the toro, it's $30 for 5 slices of toro sashimi and $15 for 2 pieces of toro sushi. Much more worth it to order the 5 piece sashimi. =) Pros: Fresh and Yummy food, friendly and helpful serivce, free parking Cons: Pricy more

Every time I go, I but the guys behind the bar a beer. Watch them turn your caterpillar role into an actual caterpillar. Like, Love it, Want more of it. Perfect date night restaurant. Its even a better pleasure when Abe is actually there. Pros: Fresh fish. Brought in Daily. Cons: A tad bit pricey. more

Truely Authentic Best Japanese Restaurant in OC!!!! 6/28/2006

I've been to several Japanese fine cuisine like Nobu, sushi-roku, katana, etc... But Restaurant Abe is the best so far. The reason why I can say it is that best service. Chefs and waitress are soooo friendly and explain to us every items, spices and secrets on the plate. They even told us lots of story about Japan and how the sake was made and so on. I think we should know what you're eating and learn the culture from it. You'll definately enjoy dinner at Restaurant Abe. I recommend to make a reservation before, so you know the seats are available!! more

I've been going to this resturant for several years and I have never been disappointed. Although it has gone under new ownership it still serves up great sushi!!! Not only is the sushi great, but also everything else. I recommend the escargot and the seabass. This place is a little bit pricey. I recommend it for people who enjoy great food regardless of price Pros: everything more
