I went into there shop because of an issue I was having with my car, my check engine light was on and they ran the codes and said I needed to re-build my transmission. Only $1700.00 to fix it. and I also need a tune up cost $500.00+ I decide to get a 2nd and 3rd opinion well guess what? My car doesn't need a 1700.00 transmission rebuild, my car needs to have a PMC Re-flash, cost under $100.00 , and maybe but unlikely a few wires have shorts in them and need to be replaced, cost still no where near $1700.00. I called the manager of AAMCO (it's only fair to give him a chance to explain) and he says they they don't have the equipment to look that deep into the code. WHAT? Don't you think you should TELL ME THIS before I pay out $1700.00, and the 3rd place (Chrysler dealer) I went to agrees with the second place (Brandon Auto Salvage) AAMCO jumped right to what would cost the most, without telling me that it may be a different issue, but that I should go to a cerified dealer (which Brandon Auto Salvage did) and have them look at it before spending $1700.00, sorry but that still makes them liers and a rip off! I will NEVER go back there again and I would be very careful if you take your car there, go elsewhere and always get a second and maybe even third opinion! I did and I'm so happy I did. I still have 1600.00 left over ;-) What am I going to do with my 1600.00, well I'm taking my car to Brandon Auto Salvage to get that tune up that AAMCO wanted over $500.00 for, Brandon Auto Salvage will do for $300. One thing I'm sure of, I'll never walk through the doors of AAMCO again! I guess I could thank them for helping me find a very good and honest repair shop, but that where my thanks would end.
Pros: NONE
