Being that I own an older car, I know the importance of getting regular maintenance on it. When I moved out to Pasadena, I was recommended to check out the local Aamco and they did not disappoint. My regular tuneups are always done quickly and I never have to worry about any issues coming up. \r \r The one time that my car had a major transmission issue, the Aamco had my car back to me the same week in better condition than before, without destroying my bank account.\r \r I could not recommend them more highly. more

I just wanted to send a quick note and word of appreciation to recommend any body who needs good honest mechanic. My Honda Odyssey was acting up and driving terribly. I was told by regular mechanic that I need new transmission and will cost me $3500.00. I got afraid and did not know what to do. As I heard on radio, called AAMCO of Pasadena. Spoke to Rob, who told what happened to transmission and soothed my nerves. He towed my van to his shop, checked at no charge, rebuild, fixed and SAVED me money. Service was great. And I will go back there. more

I would not go back here. Horrible customer service and looking to make a quick buck. I brought my car in for an estimate on some transmission problems I had been having after receiving a higher quote from a competitor. I was told the inspection was free. Once I received a quote over the phone and told the manager I would have to think about it and take my car back, he said I owed him $800 and he hung up on me. I went down to the shop and told him an inspection fee was never quoted for an estimate on my car and he straight out lied. When I told him to return my car, he said he would return the car, but would not put the transmission back in and that I would need to tow it out (even though I was able to drive it to the location). He kept flip flopping back and forth saying he would return it Monday, then Wednesday or Thursday depending on when he wanted to get it done. The manager even had the nerve to tell me that I needed psychological help and that I was crazy. This is not t more

I had the transmission rebuilt, it worked pretty much, a little rough, but within a couple of weeks it started to jump into gear and shift roughly. I brought it back twice and was told that it needed other new parts, motor mounts, for another $250. Strange, they hadn't been a problem. It didn't add up to me so I declined.\r The warranty expired since then. I recently looked at the tranny fluid level, it had bubbles in it. Internet articles indicated this meant too much automatic transmission fluid (ATF), bad for the transmission and causes rough shifting. Aha.\r After taking it to another place they told they drained THREE EXTRA QUARTS more than the specified maximum. After this drain-and-fill (to the proper level) it ran almost perfectly, the best since the rebuild.\r Do you think it was intentional (penny-ante scam to get another $250) or just a mistake because it's difficult for them to read ATF fluid levels? I certainly don't have any more "problem with my motor mounts".\r You d more

my car ran for about 5 minutes that began to slip a lot. i thought it was the fluid but it was full, did not smell burned either. i am a certified mechanic but i admit i dont know a thing about transmissions. i searched online and through phone books looking for a shop and i fed in to the free diagnostic. they recomended a rebuild as best solution. rob did a good job no denying that. he got my civic back on the road within a week, 3 days i think. at $1800 buck they better do a good job, and they did. the only thing is that my 02 civic specified z1 fluid, but was filled with dexron3. i asked why they put that in instead of z1, i was given the answer "it works fine, i use it all the time". i thought, hey he would know right? except i noticed the trans would slip and shift slowly when cold, once warm it was no problem, althought slow to shift when putting pedal to metal on highway passing, it also vibrated a lot. after changing the fluid myself at the tone of $ 80 buck to flush vibration more

My daughter thought there was a problem with her transmission so she left it at Aamco overnight so they could check it out. When we went to pick it up the next day, mechanic said he couldn't find anything wrong. Suggested we take it to dealer. When we asked how much--NO CHARGE because he couldn't locate the problem! more
