Please see my complaint below:My garage door went off track (May 19,2010). A guest in my home cld A-1 Doors from an old sticker in garage. Daniel Garza came out & fixd the door,but told my 82 yr old Mother, who lives with me, that he couldn't guarantee his work because HE felt like we needed a new door altogether, even though the door was now working properly. He told her that he'd waive the $208 repair bill if we got a new door. He quoted a price of $800! He said she could write him a $400 check for a ""down payment""! Based on what Daniel told her & due to the fact that she couldn't reach me (I work @ elementary school) & didn't know what to do, she agreed to get the new door & wrote him a check for $400. He did tell my mom about a ""restocking fee"" if the order was canceled. When I got home & heard the story, I was very upset & cld Daniel @ his#. He gave me another# to call, bcuz it was after hours. I cld & spoke with a man who took my info that I was canceling the order. Nxt morning,may 20, Shelly from A-1 cld & left a msg ( mom's on a walker & can't get to the phone)that the door was in & they'd be out to install it that day. When I got home & got the msg, they hadn't come out. They knew the order was canceled. I believe she made that call so she could say they'd gotten the door to make sure we would have to pay the restock fee of $162. I had no idea they would cash my mother's check since we had canceled the order, but they did. I saw it this a.m. I cld A-1 & spoke w Shelly who said we'd have to pay the restock fee. I asked for the owner & was passed to ""Mary"". I asked if she was the owner. She wouldn't give me that info & said ""she was as far as I was going to get"" (quote). I tried to explain the circumstances but she wouldn't even consider it becuz she was very abrupt & said we had to pay it. I said that was ""bullsh*t"" & then she hung up on me saying she wasn't going to talk to me since I had ""cursed""(by that time I was pretty upset w/her&company). She'd said that the $208 for repair & the $162 restock fee would be taken out of the check & I would get the difference back. I am shocked & saddened that they wouldn't even consider their guy's role in the whole situation-with my elderly mom. I feel we should NOT have to pay the restocking fee. I feel that Daniel took advantage of my mom knowing she was elderly & would probably go along with anything he said. I don't believe that we should have to pay the restocking fee. Our door is working fine & did not need a new one. Their only care is $, not cust svc.\r
