I've used Troy from A-1 Carpet and Tile for years. They are fantastic! He always gives me really good prices and great customer service. They are very fair with pricing. All that is very important when you're dealing with a ton of apartments. He never pushes me into something I can't afford. I feel comfortable telling him "oops, I can't afford that" and he goes back to the drawing board and figures out another way to make me happy. Troy really listens to his customers. They are efficient and often get the job done much faster than they originally thought. They don't fiddle around. And when they've finished a job, they leave the apartment wonderfully clean. Truly, a million times cleaner than when they first came! It might be a woman thing, to really notice just how clean things are after a job like that, I don't know, but I definitely appreciate it! Recently, they did the floating wood floors for an apartment. They were in and out. They came in and took out the disgusting carpet, and took that away thankfully. They installed the floors and put back the furniture and it all took two days. I don't know what I'll do if he ever dies! I better die first! more

I've had some bad experiences with contractors and hate remodeling as a result. I needed to get most of my house re-carpeted and wanted some tile work done in my kitchen. I heard about A-1 through a builder friend of mind. It's kind of a small place that mostly deals directly with builders, so their hours aren't the most convenient, but the showroom is nice and has a good selection. Anyway, I found the owner Curt to be very friendly and knowledgeable. The thing that really impressed me is that unlike some of the bigger places, I didn't get the run around about getting a quote or scheduling. Curt was very up front about everything and he followed through with everything he said he would do, which is too rare these days. Once I picked the carpet and tile, he took care of everything else and it went very smooth. Overall it was a pleasant surprise to deal with someone who gave me individual attention and took a lot of the stress out of the process. The prices were even comparable to the bigger stores, and the installers he used were professional and courteous. I would definitely recommend.
