Upon looking for a place to board my 2 cats, I came across ""A Very Important Pet"" online. On the web site and on the phone, the owner sounded very sweet and made it sound like she was giving me a great deal. However, I received a call the next day from another pet boarding place that was willing to board my cats for $4 less per day per cat but, since I was immediately required to give a deposit, I was unable to switch... boy do I wish I did!
Upon bringing my cats to ""A Very Important Pet"" I was instructed to leave them on the floor and go. When I asked to see the ""condo"" and the room they would be staying in they refused my request. Now I certainly was not about to leave my cats without actually seeing what the living conditions would be. The cashier mocked me, making me feel like I was asking for something outrageous. She finally, hesitantly, rolled the condo out to the front for me to see, but never allowed me the opportunity to see the room they were in (who knows what it was like!).
Upon obtaining my cats after their stay, they were filthy dirty and smelled like a combination of wet dog and feces. In fact, one of my cats had a dried up piece of feces stuck to the back of her butt. My cats were starved for affection and it was very clear that they did not receive any attention from the staff. Also, one of my cats came home ill. She was fatigued with a runny nose and a scratchy voice. Upon arriving home, my cats ran to their food and water bowls like they hadn't eaten in days.
Any little request I had (ex: brushing) I was told that I would have to pay extra for and on the day I requested to pick my cats up (New Years Day), I had to pay an extra ""holiday charge"" even though staff had to be there anyway to care for the animals.
Overall, I felt as though this place was primarily concerned about making money and could care less about giving pets the love and affection they deserve. Perhaps the name should be changed to ""A Very Un-Important Pet"" because that is certainly a better reflection of my experience there.
Cons: Primary concern is making money
