My daughter just came home from her driving lesson the so-called ""instructor"", Sharon Robinson, was completely unprofessional, verbally abusive, and just plain mean. My daughter arrived for her appointment five minutes early and ready to drive. This was her second drive time class and we had been practice driving almost every day and night. The first instructor she had at her first visit wasn’t there. He was a gentleman that did not give his name, however was polite and informative. I find it a bit disheartening that the students do not get to learn with the same instructor every visit, but we wanted her to have additional instruction so my husband and I were willing to overlook this issue. \r
This time however, the instructor gave no introduction, did not even ask my daughter for her name just told her to go get in the car. I was only informed of her name, Sharon Robinson, when I called the office to complain when I picked up my daughter after class and she was distraught and in tears. Then the abusive began. At one point she was yelling at my daughter to slow down and then speed up. She at one point asked if my daughter was having a bad day, then before she could respond stated, “Or you have to be slow or something, are you slow”. My daughter was so shocked at how she was being talked to and yelled at that she told me at this point she couldn’t speak because she was afraid she would begin to cry while trying to drive. This is absolutely not acceptable. A driving instructor is paid to teach not belittle and degrade the students. My daughter was sobbing when I picked her up after class. She said she was told she is a horrible driver and called other names other than slow, the driving instructor also at one point said that if she did look up into every drive way when driving through a Zionsville subdivision that, she would never learn to drive and again asked what was wrong with her?\r
This is ridiculous, I her mother work at the Indiana State BMV as a drive examiner. I have for over a year and can tell you that with all the practice we do that she is a good driver. We only paid the overpriced fee so that she would have to wait as long for her to have her driver’s license. Huge mistake. A Plus Driving in Zionsville has the most horrible unprofessional instructors. \r
For this reason I WOULD NOT recommend this program to anyone else. I absolutely will not let her verbally abuse my child and will be seeking a refund after only two “drive time classes”. Parents beware this unnecessary heavy handed approach to teaching driver education. Instructor egos should be kept in check, teaching the teenagers to drive safely, and professionalism should be a primary attribute of these schools. They really need to work with their staff on positive interaction with their clients - since yes that is their revenue base and their classes are not a necessity. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS SERVICE. You do not want to pay $350 to subject your child to this type of treatment.\r
