A Plus Dealer Alternative

Thanks, A+ Dealer Alternative. \r For a week, I had increasingly awful noises coming from the front right side of my 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan. \r \r I took my van to a friend who knows about cars and he drove and looked underneath, but was not sure what was going on...thought it might be sway bars, struts or the steering rack. Then, I did some research at an autoforum online printed off all the pertinent comments from an auto forum and took them to A+ Dealer Alternative in Tallahassee that was recommended to me by a friend and the Walker body shop. \r \r This is the second time I have used them. I love this place. I have gone in on several occasions and had to convince them something was wrong and even then they said it could wait. They are not out to rob you blind. They are a family owed and operated company. My entire family goes there and it's where I am taking the woman's car who nannies for me in the morning. I have a hard time trusting auto mechanics, but I have finally found one that truly cares about the community. You'd be crazy to believe what the girl said above. I have never met anyone who's gone to them and has had one thing negative to say about their experience. Try them out, you don't have to pay to have them evaluate your auto problem like a lot of other places do. more

I have taken my car here three times. First two times just for minor repairs. A couple of weeks ago my car would not start and I brought it over it A+ Dealer Alternative. They told me it was going to cost $590.00 to repair. The repair consisted of a new alternator(which they said cost $278.00) and Labor($160.00). I was also getting a cable on my battery repaired which was supposed to be the remaining $152.00. I decided to not have my car repaired by them because of the price. I then took my car over to my friend's shop. And guess what? My car did NOT need a new alternator at all. It just needed a new battery and a new cable for the battery. And the combined price of those two was $74.00. So they lied to me and tried to get me to pay almost $600.00 for something I did not need in the first place. I would not take your car here unless you plan on getting ripped off. more

I have always had issues trusting a mechanic, since I know nill about cars. My husband took his Honda in on a recomendation of a friend to A+ Dealer Alternative, and I was pleasantly suprised at how knowledgable and friendly the owner and his wife were. He was very straight forward with my husband and fixed the problem for ht eexact amount he quoted. After that I had some problems with the Alternator on my Ford. The Ford Dealership was going to charge me an arm and a leg, and so I called A+ in hopes of a referral since they gernerally only work on foreign cars, but they said that it would be no problem at all to fix it themselves. Again, they helped us for the amount quoted (which was very reasonable) and it was ready when they said it was going to be. PROS: Knowledgable, friendly people CONS: The entrance is a little hard to get into, but well worth the effort. more
