Brief: 3D cake does not equal 2D ugly painting. Pros: Good taste Cons: Did not design the way the customer wanted.

Editorial review from Citysearch 7/19/2012

We recently ordered a cake for my sons birthday and was charged $100.00 for a cake that fed 15 people. When we picked up the cake it was smaller than expected but looked nice-then, we cut into the cake. The cake was the wrong batter/flavor. I called to express my frustration and give Kelly a chance to offer resolution via partial reimbursement since we didn't eat half of the wrong flavored cake, and below mediocre taste. She then blamed us and tried to convince me, the customer that It was in fact what I ordered. Considering my son is allergic to chocolate, I can certainly assure you we did not order chocolate. Her resolution-bring in what we didn't eat and she would make us a cupcake (and mind you, the party is two days over at this point). To sum it up-overpriced and awful taste. Looked nice, but nothing I couldn't have made myself. Meijer bakery would have been a bigger hit, and we went to her to avoid the meijer bakery cake feel. Horrible service!! Wouldn't recommend to anyone for a special occasion-you will be disappointed. more

Owner & daughter need to up the ante on selling their stuff 6/8/2011

I walked in and had to announce that I was there; the place looked closed. Daughter came out and coolly greeted me. I explained to her what I was looking for - a sampling of cupcakesto take home to try because I wanted to serve cupcakes instead of a sheet cake for an upcoming graduation party. I basically received no response. Her mother came out to fill the case with their ""macaroons"". I inquired about them as they were advertised on their website as ""infamous"". It was basically like pulling teeth to get them to sell their products. They offered no ""selling"" of their cupcakes by explaining flavors or texture or anything. For the cupcakes, I chose two chocolate kind and a strawberry one - it was the only flavors they had available. The chocolate ones were dry. The strawberry one was very good. I selected a sampling of the macaroons. Sad to say, I tossed the majority of those out - they were dry and messy. more

Good cake, but I have to agree... 10/6/2009

I have to say, I was not a Bridezilla, and I didn't spend hours telling them what/how to do what I wanted. What I did do was show them photos of exactly what I wanted, a pretty wraparound ribbon of frosting/fondant design, very simple, but elegant in orange and red. What I got was a very haphazard design that wasn't at all elegant, looked like a child did it, in orange only. I didn't complain, cause it wasn't worth my time or energy, but when seeing the below review, I have to back up the person who wrote it, cause I too was disappointed, but didn't tell them I was nor got in the fight over refunds. There was nothing they could do about it after the wedding was over, except refund some money, and since the lemon cake was the BEST I've ever had, I figured it was worth being disappointed about how it looked and enjoy eating the cake as much as I did. In saying all of this, the way I found them was through a friend, and her cake was a very advanced design, and it was done beautifully...not quite sure how that worked so well and mine didn't, but that was definitely how I felt. If design is a concern, and you want their yummy cakes, maybe you need to approach it the way this bridezilla did, and beat them over the head with what you want - as they say, the squeekiest wheel gets the grease... Pros: Great tasting cakes, nice people Cons: Don't really do what was asked more

Satisfied and Impressed 7/15/2009

Not entirely sure what ""ButtaFlai's"" deal is (previous review), but I had a wonderful experience and I was a little taken aback when I read her comments. I considered myself (and so did a lot of family and friends) to be a ""bridezilla"" and Kelly at ""A Piece O' Cake"" completely catered to my every whim. You wouldn't even believe what I put this poor woman through, and she never had anything except patience and a smile for me. I'm wondering what 3D figure ButtFlake had requested... I requested the lace design from my grandmother's wedding dress and intricate lilies that matched my bouquet and had a spectacular end product. Kelly actually drew me several sketches and listened to every request I had. I couldn't have been more impressed... and it takes a lot to impress me. I did not think the cake was overpriced at all... for the amount of detail I requested, she should have charged me much, much more. I would confidently recommend ""A Piece O' Cake"" to anybody. Except people who should probably order their cake from the Meijers bakery (ahem, ButtFlake) more
