A Great Place to Learn 5/13/2007

A Good Yarn is the best shop if you want to learn a lot. There is a small selection of yarn, but it is all very carefully chosen. This shop offers the best selection of classes that I've ever seen. I learn something everytime I go, even if I am just stopping for a few minutes. I highly recommend their classes. They have a very homey atmostphere full of tips and tricks. more

Very small 6/24/2006

I ran in because my kids and DH were in the car and was immediately surprised by how small this store is. It was possibly the size of my rented minivan! They also had a classroom which was about the same size as the store. The salesperson was very (too) helpful -- answering my questions and pointing out the yarn, but they really had a very small selection. It was mostly Manos del Uruguay yarn, which is nice, but it's summer and not necessarily the right time for wool yarn. I ended up buying some Catalina yarn because I felt like I should buy something with all the service I was getting, but I don't really need it and feel bad for going off my "yarn diet" for this yarn. I won't make an effort to go back but I'm sure for a local it is a nice place to visit and take classes. more

very knowledgable staff 12/19/2005

I went to this yarn store looking for yarn for a specific craft project. I don't knit, and don't know anything really about yarn, but the woman working there (the owner?) was extremely helpful in helping me figure out what I needed. The prices seemed good to me, but then again I don't buy much yarn. They also offer knitting classes for a pretty reasonable price. The store has a cozy, comfy atmosphere - a very friendly place. more

A Good Yarn 10/28/2005

I really like doing crafty type of stuff and enjoyed wandering through this store. They offer classes for people who want to improve their skills and classes for people who may already know a little about the crafts at hand. For $2 you can get a member card and once you spend $250 you get a $15 gift certificate to use in store. While it doesn't have everything that the larger craft stores can offer you, it's a really great specialty store for knitting and related crafts. more

learn to knit 10/5/2005

This store offers a wonderful selelction of yarns and supplies. They have great customer service, the owner Lorraine is so encouraging to all new knitters. There are many samples aound the store that she actually had knitted herself that demonstrate just how wonderful a handknitted item can be. I love going there to get ideas and inspiration. more

Great Yarn, Great Talk 7/29/2005

A Good Yarn has a comfortable atmosphere and encourages camaraderie among knitting and crocheting enthusiasts. It's not always open when I want it to be, so it's a good idea to check hours before heading downtown. They have great selection of yarn, supplies, and literature and patterns. Their prices are reasonable, especially for the quality. more
