A Custom Electric

Okay, so the electricity in my house kept going out, with one of the switches in my electric box always turning off. I called a couple of electric companies for some estimates and found out that my meter panel needed to be replaced because the metal bar in the breaker box that the breaker connects to was burning and melting. I also had been planning on lighting my yard up and I thought that I would kill two birds with one stone and get that job done at the same time. Some of these electricians shocked me (no pun intended) when I found out the price just to replace this panel. I read the reviews here on A Custom Electric electric company and called them. Michael James came out and gave me the best price on the panel which left me enough money to carry on with my plans to light yard at night. I also let him make suggestions on the lighting for the yard and he had some cool ideas, so I had him design the landscape lighting for me. He took care of everything. For the meter panel he called the electric power company and they came out and gave me a paper showing were to put the new electric meter and he had the job inspected by the city. His men did a great job and the electric panel looks very professional. And my yard! I love the way it looks at night!!!! What a difference! My trees look amazing and the whole feel to the front of my house is magical! If you're looking for a good electric company, I think that A Custom Electric is definitely one to use! more

I'm a first time home owner and needed some electrical work done ( a first for me) . I contacted some other companies and felt "" bulldozed & panicked "" by some of these contractors and their estimates with little explanation except the urgency to make fixes eg: "" Miss.. you gotta do this ASAP or you can have a fire and burn your house down"" ( heck this house has been here since 1938! albeit without my new lighting scheme). Michael James took the time to explain the work that needed to be done and WHY in a language I UNDERSTAND . Such as the electrical panel and how much each of the ""circuit"" can handle ( this was all new to me) . With this knowledge I felt empowered to make a informed decision for the work/lighting I wanted done. Seriously folks... guys like Michael James are a rare breed they take pride in their craft, not only was he able to advise me on the electrical needs, I also found out he worked as concert lighting designer and helped me to layer my lighting so I was able to distribute my electrical output as needed ( sorry if the ""newbies"" don't understand this, but it is important!)\r \r I benefited from his years of work experience and knowledge and YOU WILL as well. I can confidently give Michael James a 100% recommendation to any of my friends and that says ALOT!. Also, you get educated and can fling word around like amps. wattage & breakers. I've been conned by a few electricians, plumbers, you name it, but finally I've have found someone I trust. Michael showed up 1 1/2 after I called at four o'clock on Thursday. Nice. Then, he dug in and found out the problem where others had failed and even had the part I needed in his truck. His card is on my freezer and I've now written a review for the first time on the internet. Did I mention that his rate was also the most fair I've seen. Good man. Great job. I called Michael to get an estimate for electrical work on my pool equipment. He came out for a free estimate and told me how much it would cost. He kept his appt times and was extremely responsive to my needs. The price was reasonable and I didn't fel I was getting price gouged. He was extremely professional and came out to work on my pool electrical problem. The price was exactly as he quoted. Since he was at my house, I had him do a couple of other minor electrical repairs. I thought I was only having him change some switches but it turned out that it wasn't a switch problem, but a wiring problem. Michael told me that it wasn't the switches and quoted me a price to fix the wiring. I told him to forget it and I can just live with the problem. But then he said he would fix it no matter how much time it took and would charge me for the original price of changing the switches. I just want to tell you that I couldn't find anyone to take care of me because my job was so small. I was desperate and everyone wanted to charge so much money just to replace a switch. I called this company and the owner arranged for a time to take care of me personally, He was very kind man and kind in how much he charged me. \r This is company that has a big heart. more

Michael was amazing! He was very prompt, professional, and attentive when he was helping update our building code permits. He came out to the house numerous times, coordinated with the city contractor, and also fixed a few things around the house that we didn't even expect. He always called when he said he was going to call, showed up when he said he would, and he kept his word! No flakiness, no communication errors, overall, hands down one of the best people to do any electrical job. I would recommend him highly to anyone!!!! I have been using Michael for my electrical needs since 2003. He shows up when he says he will show up, does great work and his pricing is very fair. I have been rehabbing buildings for years and one of my requirements for all my vendors is clear communication. Michael is very straight on his communication and I appreciate that.\r All of his employees are very considerate as well. My experience with him has been GREAT! I have been restoring a funky 1920's building in West Hollywood for a while now and Micheal has been able to solve a lot of the issues that come with old buildings, etc.\r I keep going back to him, why would I go anywhere else? I read the reviews here and called A. Custom Electric for an estimate for some new lighting in my house. I have to admit that Michael really does know his stuff.. He understood my needs, he did a really nice job on the lighting and gave me a very good price. His men were considerate of my home, they paid attention to details and I like the fact that Michael came back and checked on everything. I had them add some electrical plugs in a wall and when they were done I couldn't tell that they were newly installed. It's nice to find an electrician whose interested in taking care of me, instead of taking advantage of me like some of the previous contractors that we've used. My thumbs up for A Custom Electric!! I have been using A.Custom Electric for over 6 years now. We found A. Custom when we were having problems with an electrical contractor that was doing sub par work for us on our bathroom remodel. Michael (the owner of A.Custom) came in, assessed the situation and brought everything up to code and gave us a first rate job. All of our plugs and switches are now at the same height, are lights are in straight rows and I watched him level plates and leave all of the screws turned the same way. Clearly they care about their workmanship.\r Since then, he's designed and installed the lighting for our kitchen and landscaping and been there when we needed him for minor repairs. more
