I bought a Greddy Turbo timer for my 08 Mazdaspeed 3 with installation from this shop just yesterday.
The guy on the phone sounded intelligent enough, so I went ahead and allowed them to install even though I prefer to do all of my own. I figured since they said they could do it in an hour I couldn't match that and was happy to find a tuner shop ready willing and able to hook me up!
Upon first glance, the turbo timer looked like it was installed nicely, they explained to me that they didn't want to drill any holes in my dash so they wouldn't mess up my car, and I was ok with that.
My turbo timer was double stuck to the underside of the dash, and I found it to be in a pretty convenient spot for me. I was happy.
When driving home I realized that the turbo timer was not responding to any harsh driving even though it was in 'full auto' mode, a mode which should dynamically change the countdown time based on how hard you drive your car.
I went to refer to the documentation that they left for me, and found only an instruction manual from the Japanese version of the product, indicating that this shop buys the Japanese stuff to increase profit margin. After locating the english manual online, I went into the setup and found that they did not connect my speed sensor wire, my e-brake censor wire, and also my rpm detection wire was not connected to the correct wire, so the full auto function was completely useless, along with all built in safety features.
Completely worthless install. They didn't even use the harness that they were supposed to use and instead cut into my wires in my dashboard. The WRONG wires.
I emailed them with my discontent, and they emailed back stating they were under the impression it was a 'simple install' that didn't include any of the safety features of the unit. They ignored my mention of the rpm wire being connected to the wrong wire, and claimed that if I paid them MORE for the install I would have gotten the complete install. Never once when selling me the install did they mention that there were more than one install type of this item.
Staff are know-it-alls that assume if you are having something installed you don't know anything about your vehicle or the part you are buying. Terrible attitude from the staff, they quote an amount of time to install, multiply it by three and you'll get the accurate amount of time it'll take. When calling to express your concern, you will be greeted by a super defensive and uber-rude member of the upper management who doesn't seem to care about keeping their shop open by pleasing customers.
My experience included bait and switch tactics at a terrible shop in an unsafe location in the valley. Bunch of lazy retards who are so used to barking orders at each other it bleeds into barking orders at customers. It's guys like this that give tuner shops in general a bad reputation. STAY AWAY from this shop, there are better ones around.
Pros: One of only a handful of tuner shops operating in 'west LA'
Cons: Hours of Operation are optional, rude staff, sloppy install
