Purchased a Universal PR 250 Wheelchair Lift for my Town and County back in 1/2009 used it 3 times. \r
When purchasing explained to salesman needed wheelchair lift that I can operate myself.\r
He Quoted “Universal PR 250 a unit that I can operate from the driver’s seat"" with Salesman’s guarantees.\r
\r
I told Salesman, “I am putting my life into your hands and you are telling me the truth?"" He Replies ""Oh, Yes"". \r
Purchased the unit and the wheelchair lift is sent to me. I start calling to find an installer to install. No one will install lift for under $500.00. I keep calling around and after approx. 2 weeks I then call and speak to the salesman from 1A Discount Medical Supply. He tells me ""You’re not trying hard enough”. \r
Start call again. Now finding installer’s telling me that 1A Discount Medical Supply sold me the wrong unit for my vehicle. Call 1 A Discount back to the manager. However, I cannot speak to the manager because he is not around. So I complain to the Admin. She listens to me and she tries to help but it just did not do any good at the time. Eventually I did speak to the manager and he accuses me of making up stories. Then he says I lied about what the Salesman stated. I called back to the Admin and told her I was contacting the BBB; if I do not get this Wheelchair lift installed soon. She said that she will be willing to help me if I would have patience with her. I agreed to wait. A few days passed. She returns call and tell me she has found an installer. I had agreed not knowing what I really was getting into. \r
\r
Now real problems begin:\r
The Power Cord did not reach to the Driver’s seat. \r
The Wheelchair Lift is too large for my vehicle, caused dents and scratches, loosening panels. \r
Salesman Quote Installation cost “$150.00"" actual cost “$300.00”.\r
My vehicle battery needs to be recharged every 4 months. \r
We are unable to get to spare tire. \r
New redesign model of PR 250 need to get rid of old models (had no knowledge of this, However, I had complained they did have a few different names for the model AL220 and PR 250 and PR 220)\r
I feel that I was taken advantage of since I lived out of state. The Salesman told me that this wheelchair lift would be more suited for my vehicle. The whole transaction was a lie. Everything that Salesman told me about the product failed to live up to its name.\r
The wheelchair lift will lift the 250 lb. wheelchair and then I will pull and move the wheelchair in different directions (causing stress to my back and twisting of my knees joints that I cannot do) to get the wheelchair into the vehicle then I have to lift the 250 lb. wheelchair so I can get one of the wheels over one of the bars of wheelchair lift bars. This wheelchair lift was purchase so I can leave my home by myself. To go shopping, visit my friends and go to my doctors when I need too without depending on anyone. Now that I cannot operate the unit by myself I stay home like I did before. I bought this unit and the installation all for $1,956.00. All of it went into some rich folks hands that don’t need it! I am on disability and I hope 1A Discount Medical Supply can look at themselves in the mirror each morning! I feel I should get my $1,956.00 plus additional $money for their neglect on what they put me through. \r
This is ridiculous that I am disputing with them on a product of theirs. Their product is not working right so why am I fighting for my rights? Don’t they stand behind their products?\r
