Make a day of it! 12/22/2005

I am not really a big fan of zoos--because I hate seeing the animals locked up in cages. But I do really enjoy going to the Columbus Zoo every year. They always have new exhibits. This past summer , my husband and I went and saw several animals that we're never ever seen or heard of before in our entire lives--it was amazing. I cannot recall the name, but there was an animal that had stripes like a zebra, yet a long giraffe-like neck. definitely go check it out! more

Great place for the kids! 11/8/2005

I love the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium!! It's a wonderful facility and is very family friendly. It's gone through a lot of transitions and problems lately, but I think it's really improving, quite steadily! There are concerts there in the summer, which is fun, and the lights at Christmas time are amazing! I highly recommend it. more

One of the best, constantly improving 9/29/2005

The zoo has had a lot of "improvements" and "renovations" over the last 5+ years. I personally don't like what they have done. There use to be a Wendy's there, but it was replaced with a high priced food court. The monkeys, chimps, etc seem to take up half of the zoo and many of the other animals seem squeezed into where they have been for years. The North American exhibit needs enlarged, if for no other reason in particular but especially the bears who need a larger habitat. At least the animals aren't stuck in cages on on concrete; they have trees, grass and water to swim in. more

Fun for the entire Family 9/28/2005

We were at the Columbus Zoo to view the baby elephant that they had on display, the kids loved it! They currently have several areas under construction making it hard to view many of the animals. We were there on a Saturday and it was too crowded, making it impossible to see all of their exhibits. I would recommend going during the week or during the early hours on the weekend. We plan to return during their Winter Wonderlight display during the holiday season. more

Best zoo in mid-west 8/21/2005

The Columbus Zoo is a one of the largest zoos in mid-west. Walking around the zoo is so great. You can meet various animals. You are probably very familiar with some of them, but for many others, you probably do not even know the name. All the visitors like the big manatees in Aquarium. It lives right in front of you in a transparent tank. It is very educational to have your kids to see the actual manatee. There are also plenty of rest areas so that you can sit at a table and eat. It is good to bring you own food, because food is expensive in the zoo. more
