Review content:
I got a great online deal ($89/nite) for MPR, but after reading some other TripAdvisor reviews, was really hesitant and not sure if we were going to be happy there. But, as they say, you don't know until you try it! MPR is not located on the main street, but about a 5-7 min. walk past beautiful homes -- not a hard walk at all -- and you are away from the bars downtown which are open quite late. The resort has an amazing view onto the water, lots of different activities to try and is a great island getaway. Our room was small, but considering you only sleep there, we didn't really care. It is a room at a historic inn on a historic island .. if you want something else, then don't visit Mackinac Island. Yes, there is wear on the buildings ... but -- again -- it's on an island, is over 100+ yrs. old and takes a lot of wear from the elements. However, everything inside we saw was very clean. The rooms, hallways and common areas were clean; the lobby was dark -- but it's all handcarved logs/beams -- it's not going to be light & airy. The restaurants were not priced too high -- we got the breakfast buffet at the Round House for $9.95/adults and our daughter was free, except for a $1.50 service fee -- cheaper than we would pay at home. We played mini-golf on the exec. course, we walked around the property, we sat on the patio bar & roasted s'mores at our table (fun!) and listened to a funny guitarist. The atmosphere is relaxing; nobody is rushed and every employee we encountered could not have been more helpful or friendly. We have NO complaints. We already made the decision that we would stay there again on our next visit to the Island.
