The home of the longest running outdoor Passion Play in America, "The Prince Of Peace" is found at the Holy City Of The Wichitas. This Holy City is found in the heart of the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge 22 miles Northwest of Lawton OK. Admission to the pageant is free but donations are appreciated. Be sure you read about it at this website. http://www.theholycitylawton.com/ or you can email them at theholycitylawton@yahoo.com The Holy City itself is in a little valley not visible from the road so you must follow the signs. This link will help you find this wonderful place. http://www.theholycitylawton.com/directions.htm You will find this Holy City open Sun-Sat 8am-dusk; guided tours by appointment. The first buildings were constructed by the WPA in the 1930s. The buildings are all constructed of red cobblestone and the area was chosen because it so resembled Jerusalem during the time of Christ. Be sure you read about the history here: http://www.theholycitylawton.com/aboutus2.htm Be sure you check out the museum and the World Chapel. View them on this link.http://www.theholycitylawton.com/worldchapel.htm The Christ of the Wichitas is a beautiful white statue of Christ which stands on a hill overlooking the city. You can view pictures of this on this link. http://travel.webshots.com/album/550593634maepIY There is no charge to witness any of the Holy City but donations are appreciated. There is plenty of parking for autos , RVs and Tour buses. This is well worth the trip to see. The Easter pageant would be spectacular. If you are anywhere in the area be sure to go to The Holy City.
