This post is hard for me to write. I want to write this from an unbiased point of view & remember Redwood's good qualities, but after they tried to kill my dog, I just cannot stick up for them. OK, so did they really try & kill my dog? Well, they made a few dumb mistakes and never apologized. They said my dog had hip dysplasia & they wanted to take some x-rays. In order to do so, they needed to sedate him. Meanwhile, they put him on a medication that is known to be fatal in many dogs because they said he also had arthritis (he was 2 years old). I took him in for the x-ray, they sedate him, he was also on this fatal medication and they also decided that was the day they would give him his yearly shots. All three of these things led him to begin hemorrhaging. I kid you not when I say that nothing came out his rear end except pools of blood. It was shocking. I mean at least a quart at a time. We called Redwood around 7am the next morning to let them know we had an emergency and they had the gall to tell us we had to make an appt. It was their mistake & he was critical & they wanted us to make an appt? WHAT? I said too bad, I am brining him in. He continue to hemorrhage and they had to keep him a few days. Luckily he survived. What did I get out of all of this? Well, an expensive vet bill and them offering to give us a few cans of dogfood at a discount price. It turns out the medication he was on, the company who makes it reimbursed the vet for the expenses at having to care for my dog, but the vet never offered to pay for part of this vet bill. They knew what they were doing was wrong (another vet there told me), but yet admitting it would have put them in a lawsuit situation. I could never, in my right mind, recommend this vet to anyone. I don't care if they take great care of pets, they obviously are lacking compassion, intelligence and customer service. If you do HAVE to go there, don’t see the vet we saw, Dr. Ken Jacobsen.
