Businiess name:  Hastings Books

Review content:
My children LOVE Hastings... unfortunately, I don't! It makes it rough, as there are many other places I would love to shop. The store really isn't bad. They do have a wonderful selection of new and used books, cds, dvds, etc. It is very nice, clean and organized. They offer dvd and game rentals, as well as all their items available for purchase. Their prices are reasonable... they tend to be a bit higher than their competitors on new items, but again, with their selection of used items, you can usually find whatever you are looking for at a good price. There are only two problems I have with Hastings. First, they offer a trade in service, similar to many other stores. You can bring in your used movies, games, cds, etc. and receive either store credit or cash. What they are willing to pay, however, in my experience, has always been ridiculously low. For instance, we took some new release dvds in that we had purchased and only watched once. They only wanted to give us something like a dollar each for them. Needless to say, we do not trade anything there. The other thing I have experienced is that the employees always seem a bit distracted. I have rarely experienced a Hastings employee offering to help me find anything. Even at the registers, they seem preoccupied, and act like you and your purchases don't matter one bit. Personally, customer service is a huge part of what makes any business great or awful. I will not go to Hastings on my own, just because I would much rather go elsewhere, even if it is more expensive, to receive better customer service.
