Bought a used vehicle from this place. The sale and trade-in aspect of it went smoothly, got the price I wanted, etc. The dealer was not too pushy and was pretty cordial all and all. He went on and on about how all used vehicles put on their lot go through ""an extensive certification process"" to ensure the buyer that there will be no immediate mechanical issues.\r \r After a few days of having the vehicle at home, I noticed it was leaking some kind of fluid - thought it was transmission fluid, but it wasn't quite the same smell/texture. Looked further and I had a leak on the front differential. Fairly significant leak as the pool of oil was pretty large considering the truck had set there for only 24 hours or so. The vehicle came with this ""60 day limited warranty"". So, I took it in to the GO mechanics. They called me and said they would put a plug in the front diff. and the warranty would cover that, however, the bulk of the leaking was supposedly coming from the steering gear. I had a hard time believing this as all the fluid I saw was coming from the front plate of the front diff. They told me the entire thing needed to be replaced because it was leaking and it was in bad shape. Steering gear issues are serious and certainly a major safety hazard. Well, the mechanic tells me that the warranty will NOT cover this because it is a ""pre-existing condition"". So, they would do it for me for a mere $1,200. Keep in mind I have owned this vehicle for 4-5 days at this point. I told them ""isn't everything a pre-existing condition"" and he just laughed and said yes, you are right. He then referred me back to the dealer. So, I asked him what was going on and why this isn't covered and he said ""this is the first I've heard of this, let me see what's going on"". He never called me back, so I called again and he said he wasn't sure what they were going to be able to do for me, but he would talk to the manager and see what they could do. He promised he would call me back within the hour, and here we are a week later and he still has not called me back. This tells me that either A) The warranty is bogus or B) They are supposed to be covering it but are trying to blow me off so I just simply go away.\r \r The kicker here is that now there is no longer any sort of leak whatsoever. I had my mechanic look at it and he said that the steering gear was fine and it doesn't need to be replaced at all. A bit of oily residue on the gear itself, but nothing to worry about. So, not only were they not going to cover something they clearly should have covered if there were a problem, but their mechanics flat out lied to try to make a buck. This is disappointing, yet not really surprising. I doubt GO is really all that much different from any other major car dealer out there, but the point is YOU have to watch out for yourself out there, because these clowns will try to take advantage of you at every turn. Always get a second opinion on mechanical issues (especially from car dealer mechanics) and when they try to sell you a vehicle with all their little fees that add up to about $1,000 or so, just say NO or walk out. They are not required like they tell you they are. And beware of warranties. I'm sure there are good warranties out there for new cars but GO's 60 day limited warranty on used vehicles is pretty much garbage.
