Review content:
I have been practicing Bikram Yoga in Tampa, Florida for about 6 months and have never been treated ruder in my entire life then at this studio. First of all, my family lives in Fenton so I had to get a ride from a family member out to the yoga studio in Chesterfield which took about 35-40 minutes commute time. I was planning on attending the 4:30 PM class. Because of traffic, I arrived at 4:20 PM, I was turned away and told to come back for the 6:30 PM class. I asked if I may fill out the paperwork while I waited for my ride (since they had left) so I could save time before the 6:30 PM class. The ladies at the front desk said, ""No, just call your ride on your cell phone and come back at the proper time."" So, I called my ride and they turned around and came back and picked me up. At first, I wanted to leave the studio and never come back again. Then I realized that was ego talking so I should respect the facility and their rules and go back and complete the class since my family member was nice enough to take me back at 6:30. Fast forward to 6:30 PM (after killing 2 hours at Chesterfield Mall) I arrived at the yoga studio at the appropriate time. I filled out the paperwork with 3 other first timers. One of the instructors went through a laundry list of do's and don'ts which by the look of the newcomers eyes, they were quite intimidated. I was told in the locker room they were turned away at 5:50 because they were too early and told to come back at 6:00 PM. The instructor stood at the podium at the front of the studio and never came down to student level. I'm used to wood floors this studio had carpet which is smelly. The instructor was arrogant and condescending. I understand Bikram is a very stringent practice and that the man himself is quite strict HOWEVER, Bikram has a right to be intimidating, he INVENTED the practice. The instructor I had did not. Her arrogance stood out. I am used to strict but compassionate teachers. They're not here. Pros: It's the standard Bikram Yoga 26 Postures and it's the proper temperature in the room. Cons: Harsh environment
