Review content:
First, the pros: The light displays are quite nice; I cannot imagine the amount of money they spend lighting up everything, especially since the bulbs are those older large bulbs. Also, the food in the concession shop is inexpensive--I was very surprised at the low prices. My children loved all the lights and were excited to walk around looking at the displays. They particularly liked the train display off to the left when you first walk in.
Now the cons: It gets extremely overcrowded. To the point where we were standing in the same spot, not moving for about 5 solid minutes, with no where to go. I can't imagine that can be safe if there should be some kind of emergency!!! The way they have it set up you have to follow the arrows through the displays; this means if your kid has to go to the bathroom you will need to fight your way through crowds of people either back the way you came or try to squeeze your way in front of the people ahead of you to get to the bathrooms, which is not easy. I didn't like feeling like we were herded cattle being pushed towards an area. I wanted to look at things at our pace, not the pace of people ahead or behind us, so this was kind of annoying.
On another note, it took us about an hour to go the last 2.5 miles into Christmas Village--I feel bad for the people who live around there! We could've parked on the side of the road and walked there and arrived sooner. I think there could probably be a better system of getting people into the parking lot--perhaps multiple entrances--just something to make the traffic flow faster.
Also, while our kids enjoyed the displays, I thought it was a bit outdated, and I was not impressed by the wood cutouts of various cartoon characters--I really thought there should be more to this place, although I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting.
