Review content:
I had a ring custom made which cost me over 3,200.00 I didn't mind spending the money as long as I got what I was paying for. Someone I know recommended Lucido's so I went there. As someone who never knew much about rings I thought I would do some research beforehand. I learned the 4 C's and went in thinking I knew at least enough not to get scammed. The employees are very nice and they really took their time with me. I left feeling good about my purchase. Fast forward 2 years. I got divorced and decided I would get the best price if I went back to the store. They do buy gold and diamonds. Are you sitting down? I paid 600.00 for the custom 14K white band I paid $2500.00 for a .60 VS2 G diamond At the time I thought this was a normal price. The diamond alone has a mark up of 100%. Do a search on a .60 G VS2 loose diamond and see the price. Unbelievable! Even Blue Nile gives you a GIA certification. So anyway, Lucido's tells me they don't sell used diamonds and they would have to sell it to someone else because they can't put a used diamond in a ring. They offered me $750.00 for the entire ring. I can't help but wonder what they would have sold it to someone else for. They charged me $2500.00 for the diamond alone! I decided I was going to sell it somewhere else. I wasn't going to let Lucido's sell it to someone else and double dip at my expense. I went to various jewelry stores and every one of them told me I overpaid for the ring. I just can't believe I paid so much for this ring. My ring from Lucido's didn't even have a GIA certification. They told me it would cost an additional $300.00 so I didn't get one. They gave me a useless appraisal of $3750.00. I end up going to a jeweler in Brighton who turns out to be the most honest of them all. He took the stone out of the ring and placed it under the magnifier. So now- there is chip in the stone. He let me look and sure enough there is tiny chip which you couldn't see in the setting. So not only did I pay $2500.00 for a .60 G VS2- it has a chip in it. The jeweler said that it's possible it got chipped during the setting but he couldn't say for sure. I only wore the ring a few times and never hit it on anything. I never had it in another store for fear someone would switch the diamond on me. I think I would have made out if they had! Bottom line is Lucido's sold me a .60 G VS2 diamond for $2500.00 They sold me a $600.00 custom 14K gold ring which under the magnifier you could see the jagged edges and shoddy work. I understand they have to make a profit but they offer me $3,000.00 less than their own appraisal! I still want to know how they could have sold me that diamond for $2500.00! The price of that diamond alone with the exact same dimensions is $1500.00 everywhere else. Like I said, I understand they have to make a profit to pay for their advertising but that is just absurd. Don't buy your ring here. I agree with the first review on here. By the time you find out you have been had it's too late. They are now advertising on TV and have this beautiful website. You are paying for the name and their little chocolates at the counter. If you are going to pay for a name- go to Tiffany. At least you know you are paying for the name there and you can trust them. Pros: Beautiful Store and Nice Employees Cons: WAY overpriced , terrible custom work
