Review content:
I have been a regular at the restaurant for the past 2 years or so, usually coming in for lunch. The lunch menu is quite varied and a great value, where you get a good-portioned entree, rice, soup, a couple of their crispy wontons and tea $5.95-$7.95 depending on what you order.
However, I went here tonight for dinner and things change pretty drastically outside of lunch hour.
The prices are quite high, even for Redmond, for pretty much anything on the dinner menu. Nothing is under $10, with all beef and poultry running $11-13 and seafood $13-15 a plate.
That being said, the flavor is pretty good and portion sizes are above average, so you will most likely take some home for another meal. I had the Happy Family platter tonight which is a combination of meats, seafood and vegetables and it was prepared well.
Although the service during lunch is generally very good, I had the worst service I have had in recent memory when I came for dinner. The waitress (the same one that works lunch on most weekdays), took a very long time to come around to place our order, and when we were ordering, she apparently saw the Entertainment book coupon I was planning on using sitting there on the table.
I was planning to order a combination dinner with my friend, and right in the middle of my order she raises her voice and says, pretty much verbatim,
""I SEE YOU COUPON! YOU USE COUPON, ONLY ORDER FROM MAIN DISH! EVERYBODY ORDER MAIN DISH!""
So although the coupon was a simple, buy-one, get-one free deal, she was adamant that NOBODY in our party of four could order a single-person dinner or combination, though it said nothing of the sort.
She was talking so loud and directly, the table across from us was staring.
I don't know what her problem was, but this experience alone made it so I never want to come back even though I have come here at least 20 times in the past year and had this same server multiple times with no issue.
And when we left our money to pay for the check, my friend gave a fairly generous tip (much more than she deserved with the service) and he said ""I don't need any change.""
99% of waitresses would have at least said ""thank you"" or something, she replied with just a ""mhmm"" and walked off.
I hope nobody has to ever experience the piss poor service I did at Peking Chinese Restaurant.
But in short, the food is worth a try, the lunch specials are a good value. Just hope the waitress doesn't have a stick up her ass.
