Review content:
I took my car to LHA because my right rear brakes were dragging and I was afraid to drive it too far from home - they are about 2 miles away.
When I talked to the rep at the desk I told him I thought perhaps the caliper was sticking. He said they would look at my car ASAP and let me know what was going on. 2 hours later I received a call telling me that both of my rear calipers were bad, I needed one rotor replaced and another turned and new pads. I was also told I needed a front brake job. Total cost of the work? $1260!!! When I mentioned my son could do the front pads the cost dropped to just under $900. I told the rep I wanted to check for re-manufactured calipers and would call back.
The first thing I did was call a dealership and verify the cost of the parts I was quoted. The markup from the manufacturers part cost was about 15%. I decided not to proceed and called the LHA rep back to inform him I was pulling my car out.
Two days later I took my car to the dealership to have them look at the brakes. Imagine how angry I was when the dealership called me to let me know that there was nothing wrong with either rear caliper, one rear rotor needed to be replaced, and the front brakes could be done but not needed immediately. I was in and out of the dealership in under 1 hours for $301.54.
After I pulled my car out, I remembered that LHA is or at least used to be run by the same management as Domestic Auto Experts. I had a major run-in with them about 3 years ago where they had to replace an engine and transmission at their expense because their mechanic screwed up my car. I wish I had remembered this before I took my car to LHA or I would never have let them touch it.
I will never take my car to either business again. Lesson learned, a dealership is almost always the best way to go.
Cons: Flat-out lied to me about my car's brakes
