Review content:
We recently attempted to redeem a pawn, and after searching for nearly 20 minutes, they advised they didn;t have our items. After further review, it was discovered that our copy of the pawn tkt was amended and listed it for a term of 90 days and was signed by the owner. Their copy of the tkt only listed it as a 30 day pawn so they sold it after 60 days (30 days plus 30 day grace period). Rather than apologizing and trying to resolve the issue fairly, the owner rasied his voice and said that it was our fault for not answering the phone when they called. He said if we would have told them about the 90 day term when they called, they would not have sold our items. The real issue is that they modified our pawn tkt to reflect a 90 day term, but forgot to update their copy, so it was completely their mistake and were dishonest by trying to turn the responsibility back at us in a loud, aggressive manner. We did not take their bait by getting loud in return, and left without yelling or being confrontational. I smartly audio recorded the transaction once we discovered they lost our items, so I have evidence that we did return to attempt to pay in full before the end of the 90 day term. We pawned our items for much less than what they were willing to give us, for just a little extra Christmas money, so we lost more than a thousand dollars due to their error. An apology and an attempt to provide fair compensation would have been the proper path for an ethical business, but we were treated like crooks when we were the ones being robbed. I suggest to do your business at a store where you can feel confident your items are safe and will be returned as expected when you hold up your end of the deal. Pros: null Cons: null
