Businiess name:  Potomac Kennels

Review content:
I adopted an 8 week old sheltie from Potomac Kennels in 2007. He had kennel cough when I selected him for adoption and asked Potomac Kennels to take care of the problem and I would pay the rest of my deposit in 5 days when I returned from a trip and picked him up. It was agreed that he would be treated for his illness as well. I picked him up on a Sunday morning and it was obvious his illness had gotten worse. He was sooooo sleepy and sick. Yellow mucus was coming out his eyes and nose when he breathed and sneezed. What was I to do? So I knew I had to save this little guy. Potomac Kennels makes you sign a contract that you take him to a vet on their list. However it was over Memorial Day Weekend and nobody was open. This dog needed to be seen by a Vet as soon as possible. I took him to a Vet and his kennel cough had gone into Pneumonia. He was the sickest 3lb. puppy I had ever seen. He was hooked up to IVs, given meds, and watched for 24 hours. The next day when I picked him up he was alittle better but needed some TLC. I didn't sleep the next 2 days because of the constant care he needed with fluids and medicine. The bill for the vet ended up being an additional $600.00. Not to mention the dog adoption bill from Potomac Kennels was $800.00. Yes I would do this for him again but I want to hold Potomac Kennels responsible for a dog getting this sick. The dog had been in the kennel cages for 4 weeks and they knew when I selected him that he was sick. They did nothing about it like they promised. I find this place to be disgraceful and would NEVER recommend this kennel to anyone. How dare you treat animals this way. I could run a kennel better than this and I'm not even in the business.
