Most everyone who I know has raved about Hospice (as much as you can rave about something that involves death), saying that it is very peaceful, the nurses are great, etc, etc. However, when my grandmother was moved their this summer, we were less than impressed. The primary nurses who were in charge of care for my grandmother were rude, inconsiderate, not gentle, and just left a very bad impression. When someone close to you is dying you need as much compassion as you can get, but there were only about 2 or 3 nurses who really showed much compassion. We wanted to be as involved as we could in my grandmother's care, because she felt comfortable with us and because we had been caring for her for years, but many of the nurses did not want us in the room when they were giving her a bath, or administering medicine. There were a few great nurses, but they didn't make up for the others. The location is convenient and the center is nicely decorated and furnished.
(I do not know anything about the at home hospice care, this review is only of the center itself.)
