I took my 2 year old, who has naturally curly hair, to a local Great Clips and asked them to Please not cut off the curls. Wouldn't you know it, we walked out of the shop and my little girl had not a curl left on her head.
A few months later, after the curls came back (thankfully!) I took my daughter to see Julie at Shay Belles. She was so good with my daughter, had fun with her AND gave her a fantastic haircut, leaving the curls! Plus, it was only $1 more than the "discount" haircut shop.
